Chapter 14

After we packed a few belongings for the trip to the archive, we were in the van and I had found out that it was only an hour away from where we had been located. I'd guessed that we had moved from different states each time we went to a safehouse and somehow my uncle still found us. Hopefully with us being on the move, he wouldn't find us again. While my mates bickered amongst themselves, I decided to feel for my powers, including my new water element. I closed my eyes so I could focus and blocked everything else out. I felt within my center for my flame and easily found it. It was warm and glowed an amber hue, I could feel that it was alive inside me. I inwardly smiled when it danced, almost as if it were happy to see me. Fire was a renewal of life but it had the capabilities to turn everything into ash. It was mine. It was me. The fire was making me recall how mine and Ragnar's relationship was. The heated tensions between us differed but it was similar to my fire. Whether it be a heated glare, or even a heated touch. I then decided almost instantly to see if I could find my water power, remembering Ragnar had told me of Liam's and Aris' tattoo markings, Liam had water. I dug a little deeper inside myself and found it. It glowed a bright cerulean as it swirled in its holding space. The water reminded me of Liam, his calming effect on me and my emotions. I was beginning to trust him more and more, though I gave him the mate bond, I was beginning to trust them, slowly.

So each of my powers held their own space inside my center, ready for me to grab when I needed them. I reached for my water and it came to me willingly. Almost immediately I heard my name being yelled. I opened my eyes and saw that we had parked on the side of the road with my mates drenched like a bucket of water was poured on them. My eyes widened in surprise to see a dark rain cloud inside the van with us.

"What the fuck?" I exclaimed. "Oops." I winced comically.

"What the hell did you just do?" Ragnar asked me, looking like a wet dog.

I snickered behind my hand and when I was finally able to control it, I answered. "I was trying to find and control my power, I didn't know if I touched it, it would actually do anything. But it's good to know it came to me willingly and it was instantaneous." I shrugged with a grin.

Each of my mates chuckled and shook their heads at me.

"I'm glad you found your other power. Did you find your fire?" Liam asked me with a grin.

"Yes actually, it's a good thing I didn't go for that one otherwise none of you would have eyebrows." I wiggled my eyebrows with a laugh.

I glanced at Ragnar, his body was facing away from me now but I could see his head shaking slightly with my joke. My grin only widened when he glanced at Jaxson and I could see a ghost of a smirk on his lips.

"How much farther do we have until we get to the Archive?" I asked them.

Aris turned around in his seat to look at me, laughter still in his eyes from earlier. "We're just a couple of minutes away." I watched his arm lift and he pointed towards the mountain looming over us. "It's in that mountain."

As we made our way back onto the road I watched the mountain approach with a swiftness and I looked to the front of the van, slightly leaning forward in my seat to look through the windshield. I could see multiple guards patrolling the entrance into the mountain as we pulled up. A guard stepped up to the driver door and spoke with Jaxson before we were ushered inside through the large doors. Once we made it inside, Jaxson parked the van and we got out, I looked around as I climbed out. I looked over to one of the guards inside as he spoke to another. He was a thin male that had shaggy hair, he wore a uniform that was a wine-coloured red that made his eyes more pronounced. His olive green eyes glanced over at our group when his eyes locked on mine. His eyes widened in surprise as he stared at me before hurriedly running over to me and knelt with his fist over his heart, his head bowed.
