Chapter 11

The gunfire stopped abruptly as I hid behind some large boulders. I peeked through the gap in the boulders towards the area where the shooting had happened and saw some movement. I can't tell if it's my men or my uncle's. I glanced around making sure no one was around me before I heard a loud roar.

I stopped my movement as I looked back to the area where the gunfire had been and saw my mate, Ragnar on his knees.

Ragnar! I yelled to him telepathically.

His head snapped up at the sound of my voice and looked around but didn't spot me from my hiding spot.

Princess! Where are you? He asked me.

I'm hiding behind the huge boulders at your 9'oclock. I stated as he looked over in my direction. Even from this distance, I could tell he's pissed that I'm outside.

They came for me in that room. They used a bomb to implode the door and I crawled out using the vent system. I said to him. If he didn't look angry before, he does now and it warms my heart. Don't be angry with me for leaving but I had to.

Princess, I'm not angry with you. I'm angry that they almost got to you. I could hear the snarl in his voice in my head.

Are they all gone? I asked him.

I don't know. Most of the men are dead though around me but if you're saying a couple came after you down there, they're more than likely still in there.

I sighed quietly into the night. Do you want me to come to you?

He chuckled quietly. I always want you to come for me.

I rolled my eyes. Of course he would think with his dick.

I didn't hear the noise behind me until it was too late. A hand covers my mouth and the other hand grabs me tightly around my waist.

Ragnar! They've found me! I yelled at him.

"LAGERTHA!" I heard him roar my name as I felt a pinch in my neck, making everything go black.

****

I was startled awake by a hard bump and started to panic at the enclosed space I found myself in. I pushed against the trunk of the car and stopped, looking around to see what I could find that I can use as a weapon but come up empty.

Ragnar? Can you hear me? I asked.

Nothing comes through for a moment until I hear his voice. He is spitting mad.

Lagertha. Where are you?! He asked me.

I'm in the trunk of a car. I don't know where I am. I told him.

It's almost dawn I can't come for you, but you might be able to break away if you use all of your strength. Since you can go out in the sunlight, I'd use that. You must be getting close to their hideout if it's almost dawn. I heard him struggling to control himself.

Don't worry, mate. I'm coming back to you. I told him before blocking him.

I gathered my strength and kicked the trunk off the back of the car, making it fly.

I jumped out of the vehicle while it was still moving. A few seconds later, the car slammed on its brakes and I used my speed to run towards a run down building. I quickly broke the glass at the front door and climbed inside, running up several flights of stairs. I found an empty office space and hid under a desk.

I listened for any noises and peek out the window closest to the desk I was hiding under. I looked down to see the car, missing its trunk and a couple of men ran inside. I slid back underneath the desk and waited for them. I heard them come inside the office I was in and I stayed silent, I reached into the back of my shirt and grabbed my blade, grinning to myself. Idiots.

As soon as I saw a foot out of the corner of my eye, I slammed the blade into the man's foot and reached for his throat when he bent over howling in pain. Ripping his throat out, I slid out from under the desk and reached for his gun, pointing it at the other man.

He was pointing his gun at me when I told him, "lower your gun. Now!" I snarled out.

He dropped the gun to the ground.

"Kick it over." I told him.

He kicked it over in my direction and I reached down to pick it up. Standing up with both guns, I tossed one and kept the other pointed at him as I walked over to him. I gripped his throat in my grasp.

"Where is my uncle?" I asked him.

"I'm not telling you shit." He growled out.

"Oh yeah?" I shot his foot and kept him from falling over in pain.

He yelped and struggled to stand until I made him sit down in one of the office chairs. I glanced out the window to see the sun rising and I looked back at him.

"You have two minutes to tell me otherwise you're dust. So I suggest you tell me now." He gulped as he glanced at the sun rising and looked back at me.

"He's in Ireland. But he's coming to America in a couple nights since we told him we located you." He said.

"Where's the meet?" I asked him.

"Las Vegas." He sighed and glanced back at the sunrise. "Now let me go so I can hide." I chuckled darkly at him.

"When did I say I'd let you go?" I rounded the chair and grabbed his throat. "We're going to watch the sunrise together."

"But you'll die too!" He yelled at me.

"Will I?" I grinned with a venomous look in my eyes from behind him and watched the sun rise above the mountain and watched as he slowly turned to ash. "Nice knowing you and thanks for the intel."

I walked out of the office building and got in the car to head back to my mates.
