Withdrawal from cocaine or amphetamines lasts a few days after the substances are stopped, but can last up to ten weeks. [...] Note that after repeated and heavy use over a longer or shorter period of time, withdrawal symptoms can still be felt even after several months, depending on the sensitivity of the subject.

Eddie blinks in front of his screen, before yawning so much that his jaw drops.

Regular use of cocaine can cause heart rhythm disturbances that can lead to heart attacks, mood disorders, nervous system disorders and--

Eddie closed his eyes, pinched the bridge of his nose with his free hand and sighed.

He wondered why he hadn't sought out information earlier.

But here's why.

Reading those words, associating them with Buck... All of it turned his stomach.

[...] physical symptoms can be added to the psychological symptoms. They usually take the form of signs that occur during periods of withdrawal or craving: shakiness, excessive sweating, sleep disturbances--

He should be sleeping.

It's the middle of the night and he should be sleeping.

He is exhausted. From his twenty-four hour shift and then from his argument/shagging/reconciliation with Buck.

And he was sleeping, deeply, with Buck pressed against him.

But then Buck started to wiggle, then moved away.

And he hasn't stopped since.

He fidgets, twists and turns, and whines in discomfort each time, leaving Eddie's heart compressed in his chest.

So when Eddie realized he couldn't close his eye, he pulled out his phone and--

And, there he is.

Of course, he knows the medical aspect. More or less.

But he needs to know the rest. He needs to know more. To know how to help him, how to act.

Buck turns around again, and he groans again, like he's in terrible pain and... Well, he probably is.

He said everything hurt earlier. He said his skin itched and he felt like his bones might break so... Yeah, probably not a very pleasant feeling.

Eddie just wants to know what to do.

Buck is burning, he's sweaty, Eddie can see and feel it even through the darkness, even when he's not touching him.

But Buck is still wearing that damn sweater and that damn blanket is still covering him and Eddie--

He doesn't know what to do.

Internet doesn't really help him with that.

He sighs for the umpteenth time, then clears his phone's history and just as he's about to lock it, Buck moves again and Eddie freezes, worried that he might have woken him up.

Except this time Buck pushes back the blanket and then, after a few seconds, pulls off his sweater, one of his arms still trapped in one of the sleeves.

And it looks like he's still sound asleep because he doesn't do anything more.

Eddie could almost smile about it if the context wasn't so rotten. Fucked up.

He straightens up, then illuminated by the screen of his phone, tugs on Buck's sweater so that he's finally free of it and--

Eddie inhales a sharp breath and nearly chokes on it.
