"These guys never throw anything out, huh," Kaitlyn observes as we move inside. I look around at all the metal heaps of abandoned cars. "So, do you wanna give me some direction on what we're looking for specifically?" He asks her. "Well... most of these cars look like they've already been stripped for parts."

"Yeah," I agree as I look around. "It's mostly empty frames and chassis, which doesn't help us. I doubt we'll find an intact engine. Maybe this was a bad idea. Sorry, guys." I sigh and sweep the surrounding cars with the flashlight. "Hey, we've barely scratched the surface here. We still might be able to find something."

"Kaitlyn's right. We may have our work cut out for us, but it's too early to give up yet. Let's just look around." I nod in agreement and we begin searching cars. I jump when metal shifts and look over my shoulder to see Dylan was the cause. "Try not to make too much noise," she warns him and he steps back.

"Oh. Right. Fuck." I sigh and look at all the busted up vehicles. Like looking for a needle in a haystack. "Anything by you?" He asks and I hear Kaitlyn lift up a hood. "Not yet. Keep looking." We continue our sweep, but I'm not feeling too optimistic. Dylan was right before this is a long shot.

I follow Dylan and Kaitlyn as we move farther into the scrapyard and eventually find the small garage. I glance over in time to see my curious boyfriend press something. The large fence across from us opens automatically and triggers the lights. "Are we going to end up in a documentary?"

"No. Shut up. Let's go," she says and I shove him lightly for saying something like that. Instead of heading for the gate he goes up the stairs and I follow him. He stops when he spots a calendar and leans down to look at it more closely. I see FULL MOON written and circled on August 22, which is today.

"These sons of bitches had it all planned out," Dylan murmurs and then glances over at me apologetically. "Sorry."

"It's okay. My family has spent six years hunting Silas, trying to break the curse me and my siblings inflicted on our family. Every full moon they'd comb those woods looking for him. None of this would be happening if not for me."

"Stop. You can't blame yourself for everything that goes wrong in life, Andrew." I give him a pointed look. "Can't I? I gave those matches to Caleb."

"He would've found another way to start that fire. Just like Kaylee would have found another way to break Silas out. It's not all on you. You need to get that through your skull." He jabs me in the forehead and I swat his finger away. His expression suddenly turns pensive and I gaze at him questioningly.

"What?" He makes a thoughtful noise and glances at me. "If that fire never happened. If Silas never bit your brother do you think we would have ever met?" My eyes widen at such a serious and deep question. "What?" I repeat, not knowing what else to say.

"I mean, think about it. The only reason your father placed you in Hackett's Quarry summer camp was cause you tried to, you know, and the only reason that happened was because of your guilt and pain. So if it never happened you might not have gone to camp and we might not have met."

"Um, I think that is, by far, the most horrible thing you've ever said to me," I respond with slight humor in my voice, but I was half serious. He chuckles and I know he feels the same way I do. I can't imagine my life without him it. I don't want to either. "This may make me sound like a terrible person, but if I have to choose between all those people and you then... I'll always choose you."

I look up into his eyes and he gives me a small smile. "That's very sweet. In a morbid sort of way." I shove him playfully and he laughs. "Shut up."

"Make me." He gives me a cheeky grin and I smile. "Later. When we're not running from monsters."
