Corson V, Nefarious City, Verdagris Sector, about 2 weeks later

Phantom looked at a door through scanners and had seriously reconsidered Rivet's plan. "Are you sure about this?" He asked Rivet. She smiled, confident in her idea. "This will be the best intel gathering operation we've ever done. You really want to waste it?" She asked in a teasing tone. He looked over at her. "It's definitely your call." Phantom said to her. Rivet gave a slight nod. "My mission, my call. Nefarious' tower should hold any information we're looking for right? And we just found a secret entrance that isn't street side!" Rivet said.

Phantom crossed him arms, and Rivet looked at him and sighed. "No, I don't expect it to be that easy, but come on! We can't just ignore it. We've been watching it for hours. There isn't much else we can learn about it from here." Rivet was stubborn about it. Phantom was not all that impressed with Rivet's go ahead and rush it attitude. It wasn't founded on anything and they certainly hadn't observed long enough, Rivet should know better. He was however, happy to see her confidence return to her. That, and a good old smile.

Rivet knew that look Phantom was giving her and her impatience showed. "We can at least take a closer look can't we?" She protested. Phantom shook his head. "Later."   He said. Rivet scoffed. "I thought it was -my- mission?" She retorted. "It is. But you're ignoring how we do things. Rushing will just get you hurt." Phantom said in a concerned manner. Rivet gave a little sigh and then a nod in agreement. "Ok ok, your way. This time." She smiled almost sleepily. Maybe it was a good idea to hold off. She didn't realize how tired she was until now.

They walked back to their hideout together, Rivet more tired now than she's felt in awhile. It didn't take her long to fall asleep when her head hit the pillow. Phantom took watch for the night as she slept. He had honestly never seen Rivet look so peaceful before until now. He figured maybe it was because she finally had some kind of support system in her life, people who truly cared about her and ones she could care for in return. In a way, it had given him genuine hope for the future of things to come.

Rivet woke up just before sunlight with more energy than usual. She got out of her bed and cooked a decent breakfast, something she was more than happy to do. Although Phantom had to stop her from trying to upgrade the system used for cooking. He didn't quite feel like dying in an explosion today. Rivet giggled to herself during that conversation. They ate and their day went on rather fast, Rivet and Phantom had a supply run to do not only for themselves, but the Resistance as well. It was all routine and such. Of course for Rivet that meant it was slow.

After well over an hour of silent gathering Rivet spoke up. "Are we almost done? Why can't the others get the supplies? We have our own thing to do." Phantom looked over at her while he carried stuff. "Too many of us wondering can compromise the others. It wouldn't be safe for them." He said. Rivet knew that already and she didn't want anyone else hurt. She was just simply impaitient, but Phantom was right. It wasn't worth risking innocent lives just for being impaitient. Didn't stop her from imagining the information that'd come from Nefarious' office.

Rivet figured he was probably working on stronger weapons or worse another version of his anti-organic devices. The Polaris Galaxy was a dangerous place now more than ever these days. "We need that information..." Rivet said to herself. At that point Rivet had made up her mind. She was going to get that information no matter what. She even planned to do it on her own. After all, Phantom was right. There's no need to risk anyone else's life, and this was the best way to ensure that. When Rivet and Phantom delivered the last of the supplies to the last Resistance cell, Rivet snuck off.

Normally it would not be hard to guess what Rivet went to go do, but since they had just talked about not rushing the mission, Phantom had little reason to worry in his mind. By the time he would figure it out it would be too late. It was close to dark out which made it perfect to try and get into Nefarious' tower. With that in mind she waited just a little longer for her to be shrouded in total darkness before going up to the building. When the time was right, Rivet was quick and quiet.

When she got up to the building she was careful to look around before starting the job. The lock on the door was half decent. It carried an XP18 sisterboard which is almost top notch. Rivet giggled to herself when she saw that it was version 7.66, considering 7.66 has many security flaws. She smirked contently while using her knowledge of a broken security system to her advantage. She heard something out in the distance but it sounded too far away for her to worry about, so she simply ignored it and went about her break-in.

That was a mistake as it turned out. The moment the door lock broke and she was about to get in, she saw it. A massive robot with glaring red eyes looking down at her. Rivet was too afraid to move, and she shook in place. Rivet saw as the red eyes glowed a brighter red and her eyes widened. She finally tried to move out of the way but it was too late for her to even try as some kind of laser beam struck her arm. Her scream was loud enough to wake a few neighborhoods.

Rivet held her arm, the screaming over with she was now whining and breathing heavily. She was actively trying to keep herself awake from the pain she was feeling. Rivet wanted to be alert if this is how she was going to die. She stared the robot in the eyes and just when she though death was coming, the eyes turned blue. It had some kind of emotional response to the pain it had caused her. Rivet expected to die, instead the robot with emotions walked away before it could finish the job. Rivet counted her blessings, but the night wasn't done yet.

Rivet could barely get up and walk. She was actively bleeding out and fast. "It.. was a laser weapon.. why didn't the wound cautarize??" She wondered to herself. Her legs wobbled as she walked and eventually her body caved in. She fell hard onto the ground with a loud thump and a pathetic whine. Rivet wished now more than ever that the robot had finished the job and killed her. She laid on the ground, unable to move very much without causing even more signifigant pain to herself. Desperate she cried out. "H-Help!... Somebody! Help... Please..?"

It was unlikely anyone would come in time to help her, she knew that. She decided in that moment to give up and close her eyes.
