As Rivet lay there and close her eyes she sighed. "This is really how I go...?" She asked herself. What she didn't expect from that, was an answer. "Well, isn't this the blaze of glory you wanted?" Asked a familiar voice. Rivet opened her eyes and looked over to see herself proudly standing over her. "A-Angela?" Rivet asked. The figure shook her head no, and Rivet understood. "I'm in shock... and I'm hallucinating. Great." She explained to herself. "Ding ding ding ding! We've got a winner! Too bad you won't be around long enough to collect the prize heh."
Rivet growled lowly, but even that caused her pain as she coughed up a bit of blood. Her arm was practically dangling almost. "Isn't this whole.. hallucination thing supposed to be from head injuries?" She quite literally asked herself. "Life is full of mysteries. Wouldn't be very interesting if life gave you all the answers now would it?" Rivet sighed, and then attempted to get up again using a leg and her good arm. She winced and whined but was able to get up. Rivet crept slowly as she tried to make her way back to the safe house to find someone, anyone, willing to help her.
"Why are you bothering? Isn't this what you wanted? Look at you. Impulsive. You keep telling yourself that you'll change or do something worth while. Well here I am. Try telling me that now." Rivet's hallucination laughed. Rivet herself shook her head and tried to push on. "I... Hate robots... They all work for that no good snake without a tongue mothe-" Rivet's hallcunation stopped her mid sentence. "Ah ah ah... You shouldn't talk like that." Rivet scoffed. Who would even care right now? She was dying, and they were just words right?
Despite the pain she was in just from even trying to walk, Rivet called out. "Somebody...? ANYBODY?!" She coughed up a little more blood again trying to force the effort. "Isn't that pretty pathetic? C'mon you barely got anything out. Try harder or something. Be at least a little entertaining before you go." The hallucination said. Rivet shook her head and leaned against a wall and started crying. She really was going to go like this. She couldn't believe it. Rivet kept up trying to walk, and with littl strength left she used the she was leaning against to keep on walking.
"It's funny isn't it? How you just simply make up your mind on things? Even more interesting though is how you're still walking. The shivering you're doing must be from all that blood you're losing." The hallucination teased. Rivet tried to ignore this, but in fact realized she was getting cold. Not a good sign. Rivet was in a major shock, she knew that much. "H-hemorrhagic.. shock..." Rivet said to herself quietly. Her heartbeat quickened, she was getting woozy, and she was feeling steadily cold. All signs of this kind of shock. What could she do besides keep walking?
Rivet walked until she got to an upper ledge. She attempted to reach up and climb but the act caused a signifigant amount of pain, and she fell back onto the ground. "Tsk tsk tsk... So close and yet soo far aren't you?" At this point Rivet found herself annoyed by herself. "Could you just shut up?!" Rivet yelled out, along with another little coughing fit of blood. She looked up to see her hallucination sitting on the very ledge she was trying to get to. Her own hallucination teasing her about a place she can't even reach without pain.
The hallucination shook her head. "What are you gonna do about it? Run away? You're pretty good for that you know. Ran away from a job, ran away from the Resistance, ran away from a good life even. Hell you even ran away when Layden died. What a sorry thing you seriously are." She said in a cold manner. Rivet shook her head slowly and closed her eyes. "Hey. Hey! Don't you go dying on me because that's just another kind of running away. You want to shake your head and pretend you're different now?" She said antaganisticly
"You're not different. Same old Rivet about to run away from her problems. Well I'm not going to make it that easy for you. You want to die? Fine, but I plan on making it miserable for you." Rivet cried more. "Just tell me what you want!" Rivet said through tears. "What I want? I want you to admit that you regret it all. That you wasted your life for NOTHING! All of it Rivet! All of it!" Rivet shook her head and yelled out. "No! I have no regrets! I..." The hallucination looked at Rivet. "You what? Tell me, you what?!"
Rivet got up with a surprising amount of strength and started moving back towards the upper ledge. "I want to..." She barely spoke. "What?! What is it the little child wants?" It asked her. "I want to...do it all again... I want it all back..." Rivet said as she reached up to the ledge. "Then do it! Don't sit there and whine. Don't strain, don't give up and definitely don't die." The hallucination said. "I won't... I won't run away anymore... I'll see this through, I will!" Rivet said, getting herself up half way and climbing further through the pain.
"Good, and don't stop! It's about time you finally got yourself together." It said to her. After getting up the ledge, Rivet cut through the pain and kept going. She held her arm to make sure it didn't move too much. She stumbled as she walked. The sounds she heard from Club Nefarious, jumpy and bubbling music. Lots of lights that made her uneasy but it had people there. It was her best chance to get any kind of help. "If they put me in a cell, at least I'd be alive and well to make an escape attempt..."
As she walked she heard another familiar voice. "I'm proud of you Rivet..." She smiled, comforted by the voice and stumbled into Club Nefarious. "H-Help... Please!" She begged as she looked around, grabbing random robots and people until she finally collapsed and passed out from the pain. She passed out, but she made it and help was well on the way. Looking over her were two oddly dressed people. "She's in serious need of help... Is she the one you were waiting for Gary?" Gary the monk smiled. "She's the one alright. Help is on the way for her."
They both took the time to look around before quietly and slowly making an exit. "Think she'll accept what's happend to her?" The other monk asked Gary. Gary gave a happy nod. "She will. It was going to happen either way. Not everyone gets a chance to find themselves, and she had a hard road. It gets better from now on." Gary said as they walk towards a little yellow robot. "Are you ready?" He asked the tiny bot. "I... do not know. But I have to try." Both monks smiled, and Gary made this little yellow bot his new apprentice.
