Planet Sargasso, Outpost L51
Rivet woke up and noticed Talwyn was gone, but her warbots were still asleep. Admittedly she didn't know robots needed sleep, but there they were. Rivet stretched and got up to go find Talwyn. Walkin outside quietly as to not wake up the bots, Rivet walked and saw Talwyn leaning over a railing. She walked up and leaned over the railing with her. "Hey, morning Talwyn!" Rivet greeted Talwyn. Talwyn smiled briefly. "Morning Rivet... How was lastnight?" Talwyn asked. Rivet looked over. "It was good, with you around and all." Rivet smiled, so did Talwyn.
"Good birthday for ya then?" Talwyn asked. "Oh yeah! Never watched Lance and Janice before. Didn't know it was a Romantic Comedy type." Rivet said. "Oh yeah, it is. Good show if you're into the old stuff." Talwyn commented. Rivet tilt her head a bit. "Not into it?" Rivet asked. Talwyn shook her head. "Not really. I mean, I got to spend tim with you, so that's something to me at least." She said. "I'm glad you're here..." Rivet said. Talwyn smiled. "Well, I'm glad to be here. Being around you is... Nice. Never really been this close to anyone besides bots." Talwyn said.
Rivet nervously rubbed the back of her head. "I mean... I feel the same way honestly. Are we... both admitting something here?" Rivet asked. They both looked at eachother, and then looked away slightly. "I um... I should wake Cronk and Zypher." Talwyn said. "Oh, yeah sure! I'm sure they wanna watch more Lance and Janice heh..." Rivet said and Talwyn walked off. Rivet, embarassed out of her mind walked off and she shook her head. "Way to go Rivet... So stupid." Rivet said to herself. She sighed and leaned against the railing again, wondering how she could possibly recover from this one.
She figured maybe Talwyn was more taken aback by it than anything, instead of insulted or something. Rivet was worried all the same. It was time to get back to work anyways. Rivet spent enough time working for the Morts, she had to do something else. She got away from the railing and walked off to her ship and started on some much needed repairs. The repairs would be slow and such however. Her ship had a fused ion duct among other things. She sighed, knowing now she had to go out and buy a few new parts.
Talwyn came outside to get Rivet so they could watch more together but she found Rivet working away on her ship. She wondered if she upset Rivet with her reaction earlier, and if she did, she wanted to make it right. Talwyn didn't really know how though. Neither knew how, since Rivet nor Talwyn had really ever caught feelings before for anyone until now. Talwyn slowly walked over to Rivet and thought of what to say. Rivet's ears flicked when she heard Talwyn walk up to her and she rolled from under her ship and stood up quick.
Rivet and Talwyn looked at eachother. Talwyn couldn't think of a straight forward way to says she cared for Rivet, but she wanted to make an effort by at least talking to her. "So, I still wanted to hang around for a bit. Wanna join me for a bit?" Talwyn asked Rivet. She smiled and gave a nod. "Sure do!" Rivet responded. They both walked off together and Talwyn decided to share some of her life story. In doing so, Rivet paid heavy attention to it. She wanted to know everything about Talwyn since she didn't share stories often.
"When growing up my dad, Max Apogee was trying to explore and find strange antiquities... He went missing after some kind of attack. I never did figure what happend, or why." Talwyn told me. "Well, I actually... I never knew my parents. Not my real ones anyways. I was raised by two kind people and their son. They didn't live long enough for me to know them too well, but I knew Layden well." Rivet said and sighed a little. Talwyn looked on and held Rivet's shoulder and gave a comforting smile as best as she could.
"You miss him don't you?" Talwyn asked. Rivet nodded. "Sometimes I'm afraid I'll forget him." Rivet said. "I highly doubt you will. Maybe you'll finally find some happiness and such but you'll never forget him. I think I know you better than that Rivet." Talwyn assured. "I wanted to ask... Have you ever met another one of... whatever you are?" Talwyn asked curiously. Rivet shook her head and looked away. "As far as I know, I may be the only one of my kind left. I honestly don't know much." Rivet said, becoming even more aware of how alone she seems to be these days.
"Well, maybe you aren't. Maybe you're here for a reason. Like helping to make this Resistance and meeting me. I'd like to think you're meant to be here." Talwyn said happily and it made Rivet smile. "I'd like to think that too. I still have no idea about my people very much. If any are alive and such. Sorta sucks." Rivet said. They both smiled a bit and it felt less awkward than last time. "Sorry for just... walking away earlier I was just, you know..." Talwyn tried to apologize and Rivet shook her head slighty.
"No I understand heh, I was just getting ahead of myself I think. It's ok, really. Sorry if it was a little too straight forward?" Rivet said. Talwyn smiled and looked on. Then they both heard a noise. It was Rivet's Nav-Unit. "Your pants are calling you." Talwyn joked. Rivet giggled and checked her Nav-Unit and got a message on her device, telling her to go back to Corson V and that the Emperor is up to something. The disturbed look on Rivet's face seemed to say it all when Talwyn looked over wanting to ask what was wrong.
"What um.. What is it Rivet?" Talwyn asked, almost out of fear. "I have to go back to Corson V. It seems Nefarious is up to something." Rivet explained. Talwyn looked at her worried. "Haven't you done enough? What if you get hurt again?" Talwyn asked. "Well, didn't exactly sign up for this whole Resistance thing so -I- could be safe. I did it for others." Rivet said with a genuine smile. Talwyn was comfortable enough to smile back since Rivet did have a point. But she still countered. "Can't help people if we don't survive. Sometimes that means we lose." Talwyn said.
Rivet nodded in silent agreement as they both walked back to Rivet's ship. "Well, this is it. Might be awhile before we see eachother again." Rivet said. Talwyn sighed. "Yeah, it might. Promise me you'll come back? We can hang out again." Talwyn smiled when she said it. "I'd like that. I'd like that alot I think. Ready for fun when I get back?" Rivet asked. Talwyn gave a slight nod. With that Rivet jumped in her ship, gave a cute salute and flew off with Talwyn looking up into the sky. "You better come back Rivet..." Talwyn whispered to herself.
