The Boy In Gold (Hunter x Reader)

Hug

(Spoilers to Amphibia)

[You have been warned]

You finished your food and the last Amphibia episode of season two. And to say the least. . .you were both broken.

"Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!" You screamed, tears streaming down your cheeks.

"Marcy, why, why you Marcy why, just why!" Hunter was hysterical. He had rolled off the bed and onto the floor. You sat on your knees and cried out in pain.

"WhY wOUld thEy Do THis to POor LittlE MArcY!" You crawled onto the floor and slumped next to Hunter. You leaned over to him and tried to give him a hug to calm him, and yourself down, but he flinched and his eyes widen in in shock and confusion.

"Oh, uh sorry" You said as you backed away a little disappointed. 

"Your fine. But what did we say about the 's' word." He scolded.

"Ahh, whatever." You said dramatically turning your head away as you hugged you knees to your chest. You needed the comfort. You just saw one of your favorite characters die. You were sad and Luz wasn't here to hold you and make you feel safe. You then felt a pair of gloved hands awkwardly wrap around you.

"What are you doing?" You sarcastically asked turning to face him.

"Oh, uh I'm not that sure." He let go and started fiddling with his fingers. "I didn't mean to move when you were doing, uh, whatever you were doing. You looked sad and, uh, I don't want you to-"

You cut him off by wrapping your arms around his waist and burring your head into his shoulders.

"Thanks Hunter." You said through the muffled crying.

"heheheheh"

"Why are you laughing" You ask, refusing to let go and just sitting there with him in your arms.

"It's nothing, I've just never heard you actually say my name before. It's cute." Hunter replied

"Do you mean cool?" You teased as you snuggle your face into his arm more.

"no" You feel your face heat up as he spoke and starts to pull his arms around you.

Time felt still as you both sat there on the floor, arms intertwined with one another and heat flowing though your ears and nose. He held you firm but gently and you felt safe and cozy. You didn't want this moment to end.

"Um, does this mean we're like, friends?" Hunter asks shyly.

"Yeah, sure. I'd love to be your friend." You answered raising your head to his. He was looking right at you and you couldn't move again. 'Why does he make me feel this way' you couldn't think right anymore. Your faces seemed to get closer and closer until they were just about to-

*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*

You both turned your heads to the door as it opened. You let go of each other and stood up trying to act normal.

"Um, sir, Hello." The guard greeted.

"Oh, hey Steve." He seemed glad it was Steve, but also a little disappointed for some reason. "The emperor wanted me to come check on you two and see how the guest was doing.

"Oh, I'm good, thanks." You smiled at the guard as he looked at how close you two were standing. He saw Hunter's face and then looked at mine, and back and fourth

"Ok, sounds good to me. Have a good time you two." Steve most definitely winked under his bird like mask. Then he left.

"Sorry, that's just Steve. He's cool though." Hunter reassured me.

"Oh, ok then" You said.

You both stood there looking at the ground. The moment was over and you didn't know what to do now.

"What's it called?" Hunted asked.

"What's what called?

"The thing you showed me. With the arms and holding."

"Oh, that's just a hug." You informed him. 

"Oh, well, it's quite nice." He said bashfully.

"Yeah. Wait! Do you guys not do hugs?" You spoke astounded.

"Uh, not that I know of." He responded.

"Huh, well that's kind of sucky." You blatantly state.

"Yeah" He sat on the edge on his bed as you flopped down next to him.

". . .so uh, are we aloud to leave this castle at all, like go to the town place or where other people are?" You ask.

"Yeah, probably not"

"What!? Why?" You whine.

"Oh, I don't know. I'm-um, I'm not sure." He seemed tired

"We could go ask the emperor, right?"

"I mean yeah, but um, he's not a very merciful man." He said.

"Hmmmmm," You scoot closer to him and got right up in his face.

"Uh, what are you doing exactly?" He asked blushing at your proximity to him.

"When was the last time you slept?" You interrogated.

"Um, what. ppffhhh, last night, remember." His voice when higher pitched again.

"Lieeeeeesssss" You hiss.

"What!? No, maybe, what's sleep!?" He laughed and talked a bunch a mess of words.

"Dude, you have bags under your eyes and they can explain that you haven't been sleeping well for a while." You looked at him with worried eyes. "Listen, sleep is important and you need it so maybe try to rest your eyes tonight" You looked at him and gave him a side smile.

"ok, I'll try" He sighed.

"Plus, I'm not sure how long you were just watching my sleep like that. Creepy bro. Creepy."

"Hehe, sorry. I wasn't trying to, I just, um, I'm not sure." He said turning red.

"It's fine. You're cute." You gave him a flirty face and then looked away from embarrassment. 'Dang-it, my charm-fullness backfired' you though.

"Hey, uh, want to play a card game?" He suggested.

"Sure"

He taught you how to play 'Hexes Hold'em' and you might have grown a small addition to it. You were either really good at the game, or Hunter was really bad, because you just kept winning and winning. You played and talked for hours or so until you heard 'knocking' again.

*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*

"Yes" Hunter said as he opened the door. It was Steve again.

"Hey, um I wanted to let you guys know that I talked to emperor Belos and he said you can go out of the castle as long as you keep a low profile." Steve informed us.

"Really, that's great, thanks, uh, Steve." You thanked.

"Yeah, just something nice I though I'd do for you two as a welcome to the castle. Oh, uh say. Do you still happen to have my crystal ball?" Steve seemed nice, but also like he did this to get his crystal ball back from Hunter.

"Oh yeah, here" Hunter said giving it back to him. "Uh, thanks for letting me barrow it."

"Oh yeah, any time, but maybe not tonight since I wanted to watch the last episode of my drama series." Steve chuckled a bit nervously.

"Yeah, you're all good man" You said as you placed you hand on Hunter's shoulder. "So, do you wanna go out?"
