"Happy birthday Sadie!"
I open my eyes to find my mom sitting on the edge of my bed with a cupcake.
"Thanks Mamma."
"You should go downstairs and get your gift. I mean you don't have to, but I highly suggest it."
I assumed this would be it... considering the financial situation currently; my dad just got laid off, and my mom stays at home to take care of me and my 3 other siblings. I have two older brothers who are twins, Greyson and Hadden. They're turning 21 next month. My little sister, Cara (Or Caroline), is 14.
I slide into my penguin slippers and run down the stairs after quickly pulling my bed together.
"Sibling sandwich!!"
I know it sounds cheesy, but its kind of been a thing for our whole existence. Hadden on one side, Greyson on the other, and Cara and I shoved in the middle. We are a lot closer than most families.
"I want to do my present first!!" Cara yells a bit too loud for morning.
"Okay, okay go ahead." My mom responds while messing with her right ear.
She hands me an envelope with "Sadie" Written in her neat writing on the front.
The first thing I pull out is an amazing painting of London's skyline.
Seeing I'm impressed, she smiles and tells me she did it all herself.
The next thing I pull out is not one, but two Halsey tickets.
"But you hate Halsey?" Is the first thing I say outloud.... now I look like I'm not thankful, awesome.
"Well maybe its not to go with me...." Cara trails off.
Next my gift from Greyson and Hadden. It's a post card from Los Angeles, California.
"Thanks guys? Very thoughtful." I say with a hint of sarcasm.
"See, I told you she'd love it!" Says Hadden to Greyson.
"Okay and finally one from me and your dad." Says my mom obviously very excited for what I'm about to receive.
I open the massive box to find nothing other than another box. And after that another box.... And guess what's next? Wait for it.... Wait for it... another box!!
I finally get to a single sheet of paper... two round trip plane tickets to go to Los Angeles in June, which is only a month away.
"Oh my gosh!!! I get to meet Kate and see all the sights and ride on an airplane and see Halsey..." I ramble on and on while giving each family member a hug.
"Wait, but there's only two tickets here...."
