We have four more gigs in New York before we head off, around the state. Over the next three months, we travel around New York, from Albany to Rochester. Rome to Norwich. Oneida to Watertown. Also, my stomach swells. No by much, but as my first trimester is over, you can see the distinct bump under my shirt. No one asks. I don't tell. But boy, do people stare. The boys had let me off for a short walk, and I was attempting to ignore the eyes, piercing me. Finally I snap.
"YES!" I screech at all of the onlookers. "I am pregnant. And yes, I am nineteen. Mind your own fucking business!" They all look away quickly. I storm away. Five minutes later, someone asks.
"Are you...a teen mom?" I should have recognized the voice, but I was concentrating on ignoring more staring folk.
"Yes." I mutter.
"Why?"
"It was an accident."
"Pierce." I stop abruptly, turning around. Jared stands there, looking at me.
"Jared." I gasp. "What are you-why are you in New York?"
"MCR concert." He says.
"You don't like us." I say, 'us' being the band.
"I know, but I had to see you."
"So now you're stalking me!"
"No." He looks at his feet. "I'm sorry I got so angry."
"That's alright."
"You married yet?"
"No."
"But you did the nasty."
"I told you it was an accident." I say coldly, turning around and continuing my walk. Jared follows.
"I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"That you have to deal with that."
"It's nothing."
"Pierce." I don't stop. "Pierce."
"WHAT?"
"Are you okay?"
"Obviously Not."
"Are you going to keep it?"
"Her." I say.
"Aer you going to keep her?"
"No."
"It's too late for an abortion."
"I know. Adoption."
"Oh." I sit down on a bench where the bus is supposed to pick me up. "Are they good people?" He asks, sitting next to me.
"They're great."
"That's good."
"I guess."
"I want you to come home Pierce." He sighs. "We miss you, we all do."
"I'm not leaving my fiance OR my brothers." I say hotly.
"Okay."
She kicks and I wince.
"You okay?"
"I'm fine." I say, putting my hand on my stomach.
"She's kicking, isn't she?"
"Yes."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"Can I?"
I hesitate. "No."
"Can I tell you something?"
"Whatever."
"Lizzy and Heath are here." I turn to him.
"What?"
"Lizzy and Heath came with me."
"Really?"
"Really." Lizzy says and sits down next to me. I hug her.
"Lizzy," I look down at my swollen belly. "I didn't want you to see me like this."
"Like what?" She laughs, "Pregnant?"
"Yeah." Heath squeezes next to Lizzy. "Hey."
"Hi."
"I'm.....embaressed."
"Why?"
"Because I never thought I'd be pregnant before marriage. Because I'm nineteen. Because-" I stop as she kicks me again. I groan. Lizzy places her hand on my stomach.
"Oh...Pierce."
"She is such a hard kicker." I moan.
"She?" Lizzy smiles. "What are you naming her?"
"I'm not."
"What?"
"Adoption."
"Why?"
"Lizzy," I pause, "I'm nineteen. Mikey and I aren't even married. I'm not ready."
"It makes sence."
"Yes. That's why I did it." Lizzy smiles.
"Bye." I look up, and see Mikey standing above me. I stand up and slip my arm through his.
"Lizzy, this is my fiance, Mikey." They shake hands, even though they all ready met. "Mikey, this is Heath, Lizzy and..." I stop, glaring at Jared. "Jared."
"Nice to meet you." The other three walk off the bus.
"Guys, These are Gerard," I gesture to Gee, "Frank, and Ray. My brothers." They all shake hands.
"You're lucky to have her." Jared says bitterly, standing up and walking away.
"Bye Pierce." Lizzy throws her arms around my neck.
"Bye Lizzy. It was really good to see you." I let go and throw my arms around Heath. "Take care of her."
"I always will. Bye Pierce." I kiss his cheek.
"I hope to see you soon."
"Maybe." I turn away from my friends and we walk onto the bus.
