Teasing and tormenting. Alina hated that she still had feelings for Sandor after all this time. She hated that she still had feelings for Tyrion as well. They both left her. broken hearted and alone. But when she saw them she didn't see the pain she saw the good times. She knew she was going to get hurt again but what was life without love?
'Alina?' Jon questioned making her jump when his hand landed on her shoulder. 'Sorry,' he chuckled as he sat down next to her.
'Just thinking.' She murmured leaning into him.
'About Robb?' jon questioned.
'No.' she said honestly.
'I'm glad you didn't choose to marry him.' Jon admitted and she looked over to him. Eyes pleading for him to say more. 'youre too good for Robb.' He told her. 'youre coming to the wall with me right?'
'Yes, I want to explore. I want to see more of the world. I think it will make me a better leader when I go back to the rock.' Alina told him.
'Leader? Yet you didn't want to be lady of winterfell?'
'Being a wife doesn't give you the power, being a queen of ice and snow... that would have given me political power but my kingdom, is a broken kingdom... my families castle was beautiful. I don't remember my mother or father or brothers but I remember the castle. It was entirely made of ice.' She twiddled with the snowflake necklace around her neck.
'ive never seen it before.' Jon admitted. 'never even read about it either... I heard it was beautiful though.'
'its so far north that most people cant handle the cold.' She told him. 'it was beautiful... the mad king burned it to the ground. Melting it to puddles.' Alina told him her voice vacant of emotion, as her eyes drifted off.
'you used to draw pictures of the castle,' Tyrion said coming up behind them. 'then when you got older you would recreate it in the sand at the rock.' Tyrion reminded her.
'that's right,' she said a small smile formed and fell from her lips. 'perhaps one day I can go back.' She said quietly. 'fix what the Targaryen ruined...' her hands started moving without even realizing it, she was making a little castle out of nothing. Jon watched amazed as she worked, spinning the snow and creating a tiny castle, with tall walls and shimmering rooftops. 'Home.' She said simply and sandor looked down at it. Jon touched it gently expecting it to break but she waved a hand and forced it to ice, she slide the ice castle over to jon. 'my room was right there.' she pointed at one of the windows. 'I always wanted to be up by the clouds, so I could be the first to see the snow fall.' She said softly.
'Now you make it snow.' Sandor said leaning against the tree, her eyes met his. He offered her a small smile.
'Another day another step towards the heat of kings landing.' Tyrion reminded her as they rode.
'I'm headed to the wall first,' Alina reminded him.
'Just a drop off my love.' Tyrion reminded her.
'I don't know I might stay longer, I want to know more of the lands. The more I know about the regions and its people the better maester I can be one day.' Alina told him.
'Gods you sound like my father.' Tyrion said shaking his head.
'Havent you read everything already? Don't you already know everything Killer?'
'Reading and actually doing, seeing, experiencing are very different things,' alina reminded him. 'I could read a romance novel, with the main characters madly in love, yet I haven't been kissed in years.' She told them. 'Reading and feeling... the feeling is much better.' She assured them both men turning slightly red.
'I suppose that is true... you really want to be a maester?' sandor questioned.
'I thought that was what I wanted a few days ago but after recreating my castle... I want to be Queen again.' Alina told them. 'I want to rebuild my kingdom.'
'as you said its very cold up there. could us non Frost people survive up there?' Tyrion questioned.
'Only real men can handle the cold Tyrion.' She told him riding ahead to see Arya.
'I am a real man.' Tyrion declared, she smirked back at him.
'I like the cold.' Sandor added before falling back farther not wanting to ride next to tyrion if Alina wasn't there to be a buffer.
'Arya!' Alina said knocking on the door of the carriage as they stopped for the king to take a piss. 'Want to ride with me?'
'Yes,' she jumped up. Ned looked back at his Daughter and Alina as she helped Arya up. He still didn't quite understand why she refused Robb, surely she liked Robb, surely it wasn't the men she loved before... but he respected her decision. He was glad that his girls had a good role model like Catalina to look up to. perhaps one day she could be an adviser or maester or perhaps she would go north, rebuild and become queen on ice and snow as was her destiny, her fate before the mad king stole that from her when he took her family and burned her kingdom.
Some nights she spent talking to Jon, other Tyrion, telling Arya and Sansa stories, creating imagines out of snow before throwing them in the fire and other nights she lay silently next to sandor staring up at the stars.
