(Laurence's POV)
I walked to school alone the next day, relapsing what Kier had said the day before. What did he mean we couldn't be friends just yet? Why not now? Okay, I know he's a "bad influence" on me, and he said (and probably still will) all that mean stuff about me, but without Kier I felt completely alone. Well, I was all alone to be fair. But that wasn't the point.

I kept flipping my fringe every so often, I didn't realise it was this hard to maintain a fringe (for details, see authors note at the end of the chapter). I had to give myself credit, however, it did look a little like Kier's, just not as...red. People would often stop to stare at my "new do" or would comment little things that didn't really bother me. Would it bother Kier? Nope! I'd also broken one habit of mine, I'd stopped awkwardly brushing down my shirt as I walked, so I was starting to get somewhere, I suppose!

I queued up outside my first lesson, which was English, and seemed to be the only person there.

Great job, Laurence, now you look eager to get in.

I really didn't mind English, I loved all the reading and writing! Plus, I got to sit with Kier, so I could finally ask him what was going on. Were we friends or not? Oh god, I probably sounded desperate now. I just needed answers.

After around 5 minutes of waiting round, I soon heard voices come up the stairs of the English block. The voices I heard we too familiar, and too unpleasant for my liking.
"Beveridge! The first one here as usual!"
I turned round and saw a clever looking Drew walk up the stairs. But he wasn't alone. Behind him was a taller boy, and it was just the boy I wanted to see. I ignored Drew's comment and smiled at Kier. Kier raised his eyebrows and bit his bottom lip. He nodded to me, but had no expression on his face.
"Lovely new do, Bevers. Did you get help from a revision book to help you style it?" He said, complete sarcasm in his voice. Oh how I hated the small boy.
"Actually I did it myself," I replied, the same cockiness in my voice as Drew. But then I mumbled the rest, not revealing that it wasn't just me who had the idea to style it this way. "With a little help from...someone else..."
Drew chuckled. "You look even more pathetic than before, doesn't he Kier?"
Kier looked up at me, clearly not paying attention.
"Oh..uh...mm..." Kier muttered.
"It looks quite like yours, Kier!" Drew suddenly gasped. "Maybe he's trying to copy you!"
I blushed, knowing that this is exactly what I was doing. Well, could you blame me?
"Aww he's blushing!" Drew cooed, giggling. I rolled my eyes at Drew and looked over at Kier, and was quite surprised to see that his cheeks were almost as red as his hair.
"Aww and Kier's blushing! Well, I ship you two!" Drew said, chuckling.
"In your dreams!" Kier said, nudging Drew in the arm.
"But you're gay, aren't you?"
Kier's eyes widened, and he groaned. "You don't have to say it so loud, for god sake! The whole flipping school probably knows now."
"Ooh sorry...! But it's true, isn't it?"
Kier groaned again and nodded. "Now can we stop going on about it?"

(Kier's POV)
Way to go, Drew! Always the subtle kind. My eyes wandered over to Laurence and I watched as he giggled quietly.
"What you laughing at, Beveridge?" I asked, slightly annoyed.
Laurence instantly stopped, his little smirk disappeared.

We were soon let into class, but somehow it slightly lightened me that I sat next to Laurence. Hey, at least I could get some answers from him!
I did my usual routine of slumping my bag on the desk and flopping down on the seat. I was expecting Laurence to do his usual; sitting neatly up to the table, tucking his bag under the desk and waiting patiently for the teacher to prepare for whatever boredom had to throw at me. But this time, he threw his bag onto the desk, flopped down in his seat and simply groaned.
"What's with you?" I asked, feeling confused as to where the nerdy Laurence was.
"An hour of boredom, what do you think?"
What?! Laurence loved lessons, especially English. Something was going on with the boy.
"But...don't you usually-"
Suddenly, I was interrupted by the annoying sound of the teacher. Great, here we go again.
"Kier, if you don't mind, I'd like to start the lesson."
"But it wasn't even m-"
"Kier, stop arguing or you'll be sent out of class."
I groaned and leaned back in my uncomfortable chair. Why did Laurence never get blamed? Why was it always me?
"Stupid lectures..." Laurence whispered.

Okay, something about the new Laurence was getting on my nerves. Why all of a sudden was he acting all arrogant? That was my job!
I still nodded in agreement with the boy's comment. I heard Laurence sigh, then watched as he started to undo his tie.
"What are you doing now?" I asked, feeling irritated.
"This tie gets on my nerves..." he muttered. Wow, what a rebel he's turning into, taking off his tie! (Note the sarcasm)
"Laurence, please put your tie back on." The teacher's annoying voice soon came back. Laurence groaned and shook his head.
"Laurence, put your tie back on."
"But it's uncomfortable." he whined. The teacher looked at Laurence, slightly shocked that he'd answered back in such a way.
"I don't know why you're starting to talk back, but I'm not having it." The teacher said, now in a stern voice.
The whole class were now looking at Laurence, a few glaring at him, a few saying "Just do it, Laurence." But he still refused.
"Laurence, go stand outside."
I couldn't help but laugh at this moment, Laurence was getting sent out for the first time ever! But maybe I laughed a little too loud, as soon as Laurence had left, the teacher turned back to me.
"You can stand outside with Laurence. I've had enough of your interruptions for today."

(A/N: Okay, so I didn't really want to go into detail about it all, but Laurence has now styled his hair like Kier. If you haven't already guessed, Laurence is trying to be like Kier :) -Chloe x)
