(Laurence's POV)
The minute the home bell rang, I rushed straight out of school. I had to meet Drew by the alley, I'd left him hanging all day. I'd had thoughts of escaping school throughout the day, but it was pretty much impossible, since now I was having a close eye kept on me. I didn't even say goodbye to Kier, even though I'd seen him run after me, but I couldn't let him know what was going on. We definitely wouldn't make up like before, and I couldn't live without Kier.It was strange, however, because part of me was saying that I was doing a good thing for myself; I needed to gain some popularity. But another part of me knew that it wasn't the right thing to do, my friend (or boyfriend now) should be more important. But despite these feelings that I had, I continued walking down the road to meet Drew.
"You took your time, Beveridge!" Drew's high pitched voice sang as I made my way down the steps and into the dark corridor of the alleyway. He was sat with his back against the wall and his head rested against his knees.
"Well I couldn't get out of school, could I?" I said in the same tone as Drew. He rolled his slightly bloodshot eyes and ruffled his scruffy mop of hair. I must admit, he looked a state. I didn't want to ask why he was here and not at home, we weren't exactly friendly enough to tell eachother our life stories. I was just doing him a favour for my own popularity."You did last week." Drew muttered.
"Yeah, but I didn't exactly escape. I only went to the bottom of the hill." I snapped.
The small boy chuckled and shook his head slowly.
"Why weren't you at school?" I asked.
Drew's eyes widened a bit and he looked like he'd froze, as if he'd been caught for something.
"Erm...nothing..." He stuttered, brushing back his hair. He then coughed quietly and continued. "What's it got to do with you anyway?"
"Jesus, I was only asking!"
Drew scoffed. "Just because your life is so perfect..."
"My life isn't exactly perfect. I'm being watched now to make sure I don't get up to anything,"
Drew sniggered as I said this, making me nudge him so I could continue.
"Anyway, what's up with you?"
Drew huffed and shook his head once again, turning down my question. He was just silent, which is pretty bizarre for Drew.
"You being all silent on me, now?"
"You're the one who's asking me all these deep questions." Drew whined.
"I asked you where you were today, not exactly a deep question."
Drew sighed, ignoring me once again. This is it, Laurence, the perfect moment to hand it all over.
I smirked at Drew, making him give me a confused look.
"What are you smirking at?" He mumbled.
I didn't answer Drew's question, I just simply reached into my pocket. This made his eyes light up instantly, and a smile spread across his chapped lips."Guess you don't want this then?" I said, pulling out the money.
Drew instantly grabbed the notes from me and scanned them over. However, as he looked at the notes, he seemed to look less happy.
"Oh what now?" I groaned.
"Is £30 all he had?"
The cheek! I stole from my "boyfriend" to give someone I practically hated money, and this is how he repays me!
"I'll take it back if you don't want it!"
Drew bit his lip, then shook his head. "It'll do."
I tutted at Drew and rolled my eyes.
"So how are you going to repay me?" I questioned.
Drew stretched out his bottom lip in thought. "Well, I had one idea in mind. But you'll have to be patient." He said after a while. I nodded at the boy, already feeling impatient as to what his idea was.(Kier's POV)
I tried to catch my breath, but my feet kept running ahead of me. I was trying to catch up to Laurence, since he (quite rudely) ran past me and dashed out of school. It was strange of Laurence, he almost always waited for me so we could walk home together. But obviously not. However, I couldn't feel mad at Laurence, I loved him way too much. I had done ever since I was about 9, Laurence was 10. I know, it's quite a young age for a boy to come out as liking another boy, but I thought it was completely normal. I never told anybody about it for a while, but soon Drew, Shane and Luke found out when I came out to them one night. I was drunk off my head, so I didn't actually remember telling them. Laurence found out a few weeks after the others had found out, but he didn't seem shocked at all. He was understanding and said he felt the exact same, which was probably his subtle way of coming out. It's quite strange to think he's now my boyfriend, and that someone I'd loved for so long finally loved me back. It seriously is an amazing feeling.
Oh god, now I'm getting soppy...
I was walking in the middle of nowhere as I'd now completely lost Laurence. I was caught up in a small field, with nothing but an alleyway ahead of me. I was always wary about going into these, I always thought of them as a death trap, just like in movies or something. But being the adventurous boy that I was, I couldn't help but make my way over to it.
I heard a few murmurs, making me wonder who else could be in here. Surely it wasn't Laurence, he wouldn't dare set foot in here. However, there were two voices that did sound oddly familiar.
Curiously, I made my way to the steps that would lead me into the alley. The steps were quite steep, and they made me stumble a little as I cautiously made my way down and into the alley. I looked around, but there wasn't really much to see, it was nearly pitch black. There were a few dim lamps, but they didn't exactly help me find my way through.
I soon saw two faded black shadows on the wall that almost looked like figures. So someone else was down here.
"Hello?" My voice echoed. I heard a breath hitch, and another sigh with what sounded was relief.
"Kier? Is that you?" A husky voice called. And I recognised that voice straightaway. It was Laurence.
