I walked into the training room and saw Hope and Rafael, he said "Well, I didn't ask her. All I know is that I can't let her down now." Hope said "Why?" he said, "Because I slept with her, Hope." Hope glanced at me so I put a finger to my lips and silently turned around the corner so he couldn't see me. Hope said "What about Ember, I thought you liked her?" he sighed "I do like her, she is beautiful, amazing, smart, kind to most people, protective of you. Look, I was mad - and Lizzy was there. I didn't say I was proud of it just... please don't tell Em, please Hope." Hope said "You need to tell her." he said, "She'll hate me." Hope said "She isn't this evil sorceress everyone seems to think she is. She will be more pissed if you don't talk to her, especially since she can hear everything behind that wall." I quickly headed down the hall and I passed Penelope who said "Where are you going?" I said "To find the birthday girls of course."  she said, "I am helping MG get his shot with Lizzie." I said "Good luck." I heard Hope getting angry so I ran back inside and to her side as she said "As opposed to Mr. Good Guy, who's taking a girl that you don't even like to her own party? You know what, you're right. Lesson learned." I said "Let's just go Hope." she took my waiting hand and we tried to leave. Rafael said "The hell?" Hope and I sighed I said "Barrier spell." hope grumbled "Fantastic." Penelope said "Sorry, kids. Nothing personal." I said "Let us out of here, Penelope." she said "You'll be free in an hour. Plenty of time to practice that waltz."

I said "Fantastic." and climbed the stairs to sit against the railing, Rafael followed me "Can we talk?" I said "Sure, take a seat." he sat across from me and said, "So you heard what I said to Hope?" I said "Yeah." he said, "Im sorry." I said "For what? The only thing you did wrong was sleeping with a girl you don't like." he said, "Ember I really like you, I hope my lapse in judgment didn't make you hate me." I sighed this boy was too much, I said "Were you going to tell me?" he looked down at his hands "I don't know, as of right now I had no intention of telling you. I just... I didn't want you to hate me." I stood up and held my hand out to him, he looked at me for a second before taking my hand and standing up, he laced our fingers together as I leaned against the railing to look at the gym floor. I said "I can't hate you, Raf, I just want to know who you want to be with. I won't wait around for you." he pulled me so my back was to the railing so I was looking at him and he said "You Emberlyn Rebekah Mikaelson, I want you. I just... I feel like I'm cheating on Cassie." I pulled myself to sit on the railing so he placed his hands on my hips so I didn't fall as I said "I get that Raf, and you need to mourn her, I just... if it's me you want then you can't go around screwing other girls including Lizzie Saltzman." he said, "I promise." Hope said "Em." so I said "Sorry sister calls." and flipped backward off the railing to land in front of her "Yes?" she said, "Well you could have used the stairs, but can you please let us out?" I said "Nope." she stomped her foot "Please!" I said, "Hope you know what would happen." Raf came down and said "Wait you can free us? But you won't?" I nodded he said, "Why?" 

I said "Two reasons, A. Penelope must have locked us in here because she told MG she would help him shoot his shot, my guess is your getting in the way of that. And B. Doing the spell that would be needed to break a barrier needs either three or more witches or turning it into a dark magic spell. I could do it but id get into trouble and you and I both know channeling that much darkness changes me each time." she sighed "How hard is the spell?" I said, "Uncle Kol and Aunt Davina failed the last time they tried." Raf said, "If your aunt and uncle can't do it then what makes you think you can?" I said "Because I used to use it to get out of my aunt Freya's boundary spells." he said, "Your aunt used to trap you?" Hope and I laughed as she said "Only when our mom grounded her." I said, "What can I say, I have a reputation." Hope said "Raf, I didn't just send Landon away. I sent him to someone who's going to help him find his birth mom." he got angry "You sent him away by himself to find the woman that gave him up." she said "What if she's amazing, and he finally gets a family?" he said "He had a family. He had me." she said "A crew isn't the same. Family is always and forever." he said "Yeah, you're right. He's not my blood, but he is my brother. If anything, maybe you should try doubling down on friends to make up for the family you don't have. Time's up, lonely girl." and he stalked out.

I grabbed his arm and said "Rafael, do not ever come for my sister." he sighed "Your right, I'm sorry, also you might be mad but... I kind of need to dance with Lizzie, I promised her." I said "Ok, so dance with her." he said, "You're not mad?" I said "Oh I am, just not about you dancing with Lizzie Saltzman. I'm mad at you for being mean to my sister." he held his hand out so I sighed but took his hand and we walked to the grand hall. He went to Lizzie and I spotted my favorite little preschooler had snuck in, I walked over and crouched to her level "Hey Faye, care to dance?" she grinned "Emmy!" and held her arms up so I could pick her up. She wrapped her legs around my waist and her arms around my neck. I spun us around until we were next to Lizzie and Raf as Lizzie said "I'll forgive you... just this once. There's a clothing-optional rock quarry nearby. It's cold, but I figured since we won't be getting much sleep tonight, it could be refreshing." he said "Lizzie, I'm sorry, but I can't. I know it's a dick move to do this on your birthday, but... it would be even worse to lie to you. Now I'm yours, and I'm here tonight, and I want to be the best date that I can be, but the other stuff is not gonna happen." 

She said "I don't understand. Last night..." he said, "Last night was a mistake." Lizzie saw me and said, "Where's my sister?" I said, "I don't know." I continued to dance with Faye as she giggled, I kissed her little cheek and said "Look guys I have the prettiest date here." that made Lizzie laugh as she said "Isn't it past your bedtime little miss Faye?" she giggled "But I'm with Emmy." Lizzie said "And you think Emmy will save you?" she nodded "Emmy is magical, and always gets her way." I said, "I do not." Lizzie scoffed "You do too." I laughed "Ok fine, but it's not my fault." Lizzie said "Hey Raf, is she the reason you won't be with me?" he looked down and Lizzie said "It's ok, I ship it. Ember, trade me?" she held her hands out for Faye who reached for her. Raf took my hand and pulled me to him as we danced, Lizzie and Faye swayed next to us."
