Their Runaway bride

Chapter 1

I ran and ran till my feet felt like giving up and I wasn't ready to.
No, not this time, never.
I have been running all my life and this is kind of like something I'm used to now.
But this time it's different, the villain is catching up to me and if I don't think fast, I think that will be the end of it.
No, I'm not giving up just like that.
I haven't gone this far just to be casted out like this.
I keep on turning from one corner to another, not even caring where it would leads me to.
I kept on and on till I finally reached a row of houses.
I didn't take time to study them at first but then when I saw the first gate that was opened, I rushed into the house without even thinking twice.
I was trying to find a place to hide when I saw two children, a boy and a girl and they are all staring at me, as if I had fallen from the sky or something.
"Listen here, will you play a game with me?" I ask.
They both nodded, as if they have been awaiting my question all this while.
"Ok, it's a hide and seek game, I will hide and you will be the ones to seek me out" I try to explain.
"I will hide with you and then tonny will seek" the little girl says.
"No, you both will seek me" I try to argue with her.
"No, I want to hide with you, I want to hide with you" she keeps on jumping up and down.
I can hear him coming closer by the second and my heart is about to fall out from my chest.
No, not again, not this time.
"Ok, listen tonny, whatever happens, don't come looking for us till you count to 1000 and don't tell anyone where we are, ok" I say.
He nodded and closed his eyes and start to count.
I tried to find a place to hide for the meantime and escape as soon as I can and I spotted a little corridor by the side of the house and rushed over.
I had forgotten about the little creature until she started calling out to me to wait for her.
I picked her up and rushed into the corridor.
Not long have I entered the gate opens again and then his voice echoes.
"I know you are in here" he calls out.
"Who are you?" Little tonny asks.
I am now feeling guilty about leaving a poor child out there but then again, he won't harm him.
His only target is me. He is only assigned to get me and no one else.
"Shall we play a game?" the little girl asks.
Can't she stop talking for a while.
I let go of her and tried to find and escape route.
"I am Lily, what is your name?" she asks.
Goodness! This girl is surely going to expose me.
"Keethana, I know you are in here, so you better come out before I come find you" he says in a sing song voice.
I know he is just trying to guess, he is not sure I'm in here and he will leave as long as he did not find any evidence of me being here.
"Who are you?" Tonny asks again but he didn't even acknowledge him.
"You should get out before I call Mom" he adds.
"Listen kid, I want you to answer me, has anyone come in here recently?" he asks.
I didn't hear the boy say anything.
"Don't lie to me, good boys don't lie" he says.
"I am telling the truth" tonny says.
Good boy.
There was a bit of silence until Lily decided to break it.
"Is he also playing with us?" she asks.
Goodness! I really don't want to get caught today but it seems like she is intent in making it happen.
I just nodded my head.
I tried to look for a possible escape but I couldn't find one. All the walls are too high for me to jump off.
I knelt in front of the girl.
"Listen here, I am going to check if they are coming to get us, all you have to do is wait for me here" I whisper at her.
It seems like this time she has finally got the gist as she nodded.
"Good girl" I say and pat her on the head.
I slowly walk over to the edge of the corridor and take a peak at the two.
He is still standing there, checking to see if there is any sign of me being in here.
"Keethana, this is your last chance, just come out and we'll make this much more easier" he calls out again.
He stood there for about ten minutes while tonny keeps on counting to 1000.
He starts walking to the gate.
Maybe he has figured I might not be in here.
I sat down on the bare floor, letting out a huge sigh of relief.
At least this would buy me some time before I find another place to escape to.
But what I didn't except was.
"Yay! He's leaving we have finally won" little Lily shouts at the top of her lungs and let me tell you, even someone from Mars could hear her.
That's it, I'm done for.
My breath got caught up in my lungs.
What am I gonna do now?.
I need to find an escape route before he finally gets to me.
But it seems like I was too late and the next thing I felt was someone grabbing my hair so hard, so hard that I'm sure some strands must have been tugged off.
"Ahhh!" I scream.
"You bitch, you think you can hide away from me, well, now I got you" he says, still pulling me by the hair.
"Hey! Let go of my new friend" little Lily tries to beat him off but seeing the brutal look on his face, she stood back.
"Let go of me, you monster" I try to pull away but I was doing more harm than good to myself.
Fuck! My head hurts so badly.
"I guess I'm gonna be paid double the amount I was promised after all the troubles you have caused me" he says.
What trouble have I caused him actually?.
He has been on my tail for the past twenty four hours.
He pulls me out of the corridor.
"Hey, let go of my new friend or I'll call mommy" the little girl threatened again.
Tonny has also stopped counting and is now looking at the scene unfolding in front of him.
If this girl keeps on talking like that, I'm not so certain if he will be sparing her.
"Come on, take me already" I threaten him.
I don't want these children's life to be scarred forever and so, I won't want them to face any brutality at this young stage in life.
He smiles at me with his crooked face, not a pleasing smile though, but a devilish one.
"Go on inside, I'll be back soon and we'll continue with our game" I tell the children.
"But I don't want..."
"Tonny, be a brave boy and take your sister inside" I ordered the boy and he obeyed.
I can't believe that in less than ten minutes, I have grown close to these kids and I'm afraid of losing them already.
I watched them as they walked back into their house and closed the door.
The man tugged at my hair and pulled me out of the house.
"You sure are one nasty slut you know, and sneaky, if not I was asked to bring you alive, I would have killed you already" he keeps on cursing.
I wasn't paying attention to any of his insults as I was looking for a way out and finally, I got one.
Without wasting anytime, I grabbed the little knife from his pocket and stabbed into his thigh.
He screamed so loudly that my eardrums felt like flying out.
"You bitch" he screamed and let go of me but I didn't let go.
I kept on piercing the knife into his thigh.
As soon as I pulled it out, blood started oozing out and splashing all over my body.
He screamed in agony but I do not care, not now.
I closed my eyes and kept on stabbing at him with the knife, every which way.
He was shouting and screaming and begging but I don't care.
I finally stopped when I felt that he has stopped moving.
Ever so slowly, I opened my eyes.
"Ha!" I screamed and fall back, throwing the knife aside.
I can't believe I did that to a human being and that too in broad daylight.
His face and chest have been completely disfigured by my stabbing and I am covered in blood, his blood.
I have seen so many blood shed in my life but not as much as this one, me staining myself with someone's blood.
But there is no time to agonize.
I'm sure they must have found out he is down now and soon, get will be sending another one.
I got up and started running back to where I came from.
I had no other choice but to go back to that house and this time, I didn't just wait outside, I tried to knock on the door so hard.
The door was opened and I quickly rushed in.
It was a middle aged lady staring at me.
"So, you must be the girl?" she asks.
For a minute there, I thought that she has also been brainwashed and I was thinking of a way out but then she smiles.
"Tonny and Lily were just bugging me to come help you, so I was just on my way" she says.
Now I see where the children got their reckless behavior.
I mean, who could just trust a stranger he just met today?.
Not me, at least.
"God, you are drenched" she observes.
"Guess he didn't survive it, right?" she asks.
I nodded at her.
"Please I need to hide out in here at least until I get to find the next place to go" I plead with her.
"Sure, you can stay as long as you want but first" she pauses
My heart skips a beat.
"We need to change you out of this mess, I think my daughter's clothes would fit you just fine" she says.
She pulls me into a room right next to the main entrance door.
The room is so tiny, who am I kidding, I don't even have time to look around.
All I'm after is an escape and I just want it finish recharging before they finally get to me again.
"Here, take these and here's the bathroom, you can wash off, the children will be excited to see you are back" she says, handing me over some pile of clothes.
"Thanks" I nodded.
I walked into the bathroom and turn on the shower.
The blood keeps dripping of my body but I kept on pretending it was just paint, like I always did.
After I was sure I was clean, I turn off the shower and walk out.
I changed into what seemed like a ripped off jeans and a cold shoulder t-shirt.
They look pretty nice but now, if I don't hurry, there won't be time for any admiration ever again.
I walked out of the bathroom and find her waiting for me just outside there.
"They look pretty nice on you" she complements.
I've never been complemented for a very long time in my life so it felt weird.
"Thanks" looks like I still haven't forgotten my manners.
She pulls me by the hand and into a corridor.
"Look kids, see what I got for you" she calls out.
The kids hurriedly proceeded to us and we're so happy when they saw that it was me.
"Mom, you saved her, you are our hero" little Lily squeals as she runs over to hug me.
Tonny did the same thing as well.
"What's the ruckus all about?" A voice came from inside the room.
"That's my eldest daughter, come let's go meet her" the mother says.
They are treating me as if I am family already.
As soon as we walked into the living room, I saw a girl sitting on the couch.
She is busy dialing on her phone and is chewing on a gum.
Her hair is dyed in what looked like a unicorn's poop and she is wearing all ripped out clothes.
But can you blame her, she is living her teenage life in such a pleasant manner, something that I would give anything to attain.
She looks up to me and then back at her phone.
"She's the one that they are looking for all over the world" she points out.
"And she is wearing my clothes, why is she wearing my clothes?" she directed the question at her mother.
"Her's a little bit dirty, so..." she trails off.
I can feel the tension rising between the mother and daughter and I am not going to wait until it blows.
"Thanks very much for having here here for the meantime but I'd like to ask a favor, is there any way with a high electricity voltage in your house?" I ask.
"Why?" she asks.
I lift on the tiny watch in my hand that is still yet to be fully charged.
"I need to quickly charge this thing and then will teleport myself out of here" I say.
"With this tiny thing?" she asks, surprised.
It's like as if she has never seen anything like it before.
"So, are you from like the future or something?" the mean teenage girl asks.
"No" I answer.
"So why are you holding something that hasn't been invented already?" she asks.
Really! This hasn't been invented?.
Or maybe they just don't know about it yet.
"Where are you going, you just got here, stay with us" the kid says and his mother backs him off.
"I'm really grateful for all your hospitality but it's only a matter of time before they send someone after me again and let me tell you, it's gonna be bad" I say, already feeling the chills.
There was a few moments of silence.
"Ok, you can leave, but at least have dinner first" the woman says.
I haven't had any decent meal in days, so why not refill before going on a big journey like this. And it's been years since I had a family dinner.
I nodded at her and she was so happy, like really happy.
I am starting to feel suspicious about all this hospitality of theirs but then I shun it aside as soon as I stared at the two lovely children.
Not long after, she brought back the meal and set up the table.
Her elder daughter is still there on the phone, watching silly movies I'm sure.
This one can easily be brainwashed, I thought.
"Come on, let's have our meal" the two kids invited her.
"Naeemi, drop your phone for once and come and have dinner with us" the mother calls.
"Ok, whatever" she says
"Naeemi, it was my friend's name" I say, remembering her
"But I'm not her" the girl snarls.
"Don't mind her, so where is that friend of yours now?" The mother asks.
"Dead" I answer with no hesitation.
"Oh! I'm so sorry" she apologizes.
I nodded at her.
We all started taking our food.
I was taking the third bite when I hear a huge crash by the gate.
"Oh my goodness! They are here, I know I shouldn't have stayed long" I panicked.
"Who are here?" the mother asks.
"Them, they have tracked me down already, I'm in there territory, so it's easy for them" I say.
"Who are they?" she asks again.
Sure she does asks a lot of questions.
"You don't wanna know" I say.
"Maybe she stole something from someone important and they are after it, did you steal that tele-portation thingy?" Naeemi asks.
I would have given her a befitting reply but right now, it's a do or die situation.
"Naeemi" her mother cautioned.
"Just take me to the power source" I screamed in panic.
She was about to get up when the sound of the gate crashing down comes.
They are here, now there's no escape.
"Keethana, where are you?" a child's voice echoes.
"Keethana, that's your name, so funny" the teenage girl teases.
"Will you shut up for a minute" I screamed.
The girl flinched at my outburst but didn't say a word.
I move over to the window and take a peak at them and at the same time, the rest of the family did too.
"Like, they sent some children to get you" the mother laughed, finding it rather funny.
But to me, it's the total opposite for I know that they're using their ultimate weapons so far.
There are two kids standing outside, a boy and a girl of about five to seven years of age.
The girl is holding a knife and the boy is holding a gun. By mere looking at them, you'll think they are just toys but one slash or blow from them, it can kill dozens of lives.
"It's the end, it's the end, it's over now, all over" I cried out.
I threw myself on the ground.
"Keethana, come out or do you wanna play hide and seek because we will be glad to find you" the girl calls out and laughs.
"Yay! Hide and seek" Lily says.
"Shhh! Nobody should say a word" I warned them.
"Why, are you afraid of some little kids?" Naeemi asks.
"Even my little brother here can take them down, guess you're such a whinny after all" she says.
"Yes, I can take them down, let me, I am as powerful as Daddy, even more powerful" he boasts.
These people don't really know the danger they are in right now, that's why they are joking but I do know.
I do know it is the end.
