"Let's get in then" he proceeded to open the door.
He let me go in first and then he walked in and closed the door.
The interior of the car was so out of this world. The seat was made out of a soft leather that I've never seen before and it's all white in color.
This made me feel like I would dirty up the place with just my skin contact, not to talk my faded clothes when compared to his.
"Good afternoon Mr Svaboda, are you heading somewhere and were is your destination?"a voice echoes in the car and I was startled by that.
"Calm down, it's just the car, trixie" he says.
"Hey Trixie" he greets.
"Hi, how are you?, Hope you enjoyed your stay here in Linsdale, I see you even brought company" the car spoke in that robotic voice again.
"Yes, she is Keethana, such a nice name, right?" he asked the car, like he literally asked the car.
"Keethana is a name of Tamil origin and it means pure gold. The name also implies being cooperative, adaptable, excellent partner, kind, balance, friendly, tactful and diplomatic" the car announces.
Wow! I've never known this about by name.
"Nice" I said.
"Such a nice name for a pure heart indeed" he said and I had no other choice but to blush.
"So, who's Mr Svaboda, I heard he car call the name earlier?" I asked.
I just couldn't believe that I actually asked that question, how dumb could I have been.
"That's me" he actually answered.
I just nodded at him.
"So, where would our destination be?" Trixie asks.
He looked towards my side.
"Huh?" I questioned.
"Where are you headed to, we are going to give you a ride?" he asked.
"I live ten blocks from here, it's ok, I can just walk" I answered.
"Location confirmed, I have searched through the area and found inhabitants that have the same genetic features as Keethana, it would take us five minutes to reach our destination" the car announced.
Totally mind blown, that was what I was at that time. If I had claimed to have had so many adventures in life, then this is definitely at the top.
"Fasten your seat belts before we start driving as I have located some potholes on the way" Trixie announced again.
Does she have a third eye or something?, I had to ask myself that but I never got that answer.
I tried to look for the seat belt as I have entered a car or two back in the days and that's more than any of our town members did but there was no seatbelt.
I didn't want to look like a loser, so I tried searching for it where I still thought it would be, until he spoke.
"Just lay your back down, like this" he said and laid down his back on the seat and as soon as he did that, he seatbelt appeared from behind him and tucked him in.
I did as he did and the seatbelt appeared as well.
"Woahh! This is so cool" I couldn't help but said.
He smiled at me.
"We are taking off now, so enjoy your ride" and with that, the car ignited itself and stared moving.
But what do I expect from a talking car.
As the car was moving on it's own and surprisingly, I wasn't at all fazed by that owing to the fact that I have never driven, such a car, I was bound to be terrified but my mind was elsewhere.
I was busy staring at the most awesome man on earth, at least to me at that time.
He was so engrossed in looking up front that he didn't notice that I was staring at him or he knew and was just ignoring the fact, either one, he still didn't stopped me.
As I was staring at him, I realized that he actually looks a little bit older, at least be would be 35 to 40 years of age.
It that's so, then he is older than me for about 18 to 23 years older than I am, I had thought.
I didn't even know why I was comparing our age but I just did.
But one could hardly tell he was older because he has kept himself well.
I was cut short from my inspection of him when he cleared his throat.
I looked forward and saw that we were almost at my home street and that's when I remembered that I was supposed to run an errand when I strayed.
"Oh Lord!" I hit my head.
"Is there any problem?" he asked.
"No, it's just that I was asked to buy stuff from the market for dinner and I had completely forgotten" I answered.
Mom will definitely be mad at me for this and I don't think I am ready for any scolding today.
I was intending to tell him to drop me on the way home he spoke instead.
"Trixie, please take us to the market first" he said.
"The shortest route to the market will take us fifteen minutes and eight seconds" the car spoke and with that, we changed our direction.
I brought all the Ingredients for our dinner which he bought in excess. The food stuff that he bought would actually feast half this town.
I had refused his offer but he insisted.
After we had brought all the ingredients, we all walked back into his car and drove off.
The whole town, meaning the people in the market who consists of almost more than half of the inhabitants of this town were watching it all unfold.
The probability of this news reaching my parents before reaching home was very high I was sure.
And that was what happened because as soon as we reached my house, I saw my mother standing there, hands akimbo, waiting to see what trouble I had gotten myself into this time.
She was a little bit taken a back by the appearance of the car.
"We have arrived at our destination, hope you enjoyed your drive?" Trixie asks.
"Thanks Trixie" he said.
"Thanks Trixie" I also did as he did.
He looked at me and I couldn't help but blush.
I quickly hopped out of the car and stood there, staring at my mother, waiting for her thunder to erupt.
He has also stepped out of the car as well.
"Good evening ma'am" he greeted my mother even though he looked a little bit older than she was.
She hesitates for a while before answering.
"Good evening" she answered, still unsure and uncomfortable.
Then she gave me a threatened look that always scares me whenever I was up to no good.
"I was just giving Keethana here a ride" he tried to explain.
"Yeah, I know all that she did" she answered a bit bitterly this time.
Oh! The mayor must have told them already.
"Bring in the stuffs I sent you to buy" she said and did her best to ignore him.
"Yeah, let me take them out" he said.
Mother just stood there, mouth agape from all the food items he was busy pulling out of the car.
The neighbors have also stepped out, waiting to see what was going to unfold.
But I know the worst I could get out of this was a beating and being grounded forever.
"Thanks for the kindness Sir, but we don't accept charity" the woman said.
I was taken aback by her rudeness and so was everyone that was watching.
Just then, my father came out and saw all the horrified face of everyone.
It seems like everyone knows who that man is, except for my mother.
"Oh! Mr Svaboda, what do we miserable peasants do to be visited by you?" He asked.
Then he saw me standing by him.
"Please forgive her Sir, I know she can be clumsy at all times and get herself into some mess but she is good at heart and she means no harm" he pleaded with the man.
If my father who has always held himself with so much pride was bowing down to this man, then he must so important, that I concluded without any doubts.
"Quickly, apologize to him" he said to my mother.
She gave him a questioning look.
"This man is the sole reason why our town is still standing today, so if you can't be grateful to him, then you will be in grave trouble" he whispered to her but I had those kind of antenna ears that can hear even from a far.
"I apologize for my rude behavior earlier Sir" she apologized but I could still see the despise in her eyes.
He just nodded at her and smiled. The man was so simple.
He tried to carry the food stuffs that we bought but many people were quick to stop him. As they all collected everything from him within the wink of an eye and proceeded into my house.
I turned to him, not sure what to say to the man again.
"Thanks for the ride, I really did enjoy it" that was all I could muster to say. So lame if you ask me.
"I also enjoyed it too" he said and gave me that signature smile of his.
"Keethana, what are you waiting for, you should at least invite our guest inside" my father said when they were out from taking all the food stuffs in.
"Uhmm, he was just..." But then I stopped myself.
"I'd really appreciate it if you accept our invitation and come in" I said instead.
He smiled once again, something that he seemed to be good at and doing all the time.
He adjusted his suit.
"This way" I said and guided him into our house.
Our house was the smallest house that you could ever imagine. The living room could only occupy two couches and a centre table. Then there are two rooms. One was a little bit smaller than the living room and that's where my parents lived while the other one which could only take a small mattress and a place to place your feet was mine.
Our kitchen and bathroom were all situated outside, just like most of the houses around.
I was so ashamed to even tell him to take a seat, afraid that the dirt on our couch could stain his clothes.
"Have a seat sir" my father was the one who did the honors.
He even hesitated for a bit before he sat down and that gained him another glare from my mother.
I left the room immediately along with my mother. Not that I wanted to, but she literally pulled me out.
"One day, your curiosity would be the death of you" she said and I didn't give any importance to what she said back then.
But I could remember vividly how she made me cook dinner that day as a punishment for not coming back home on time.
But that was all to waste at some point because the whole town was called down to the mayor's house for dinner that night.
We always had this kind of special events at some time and that day, it happened to be Mr Svaboda.
Mother asked me to pack up our food though and so, we went along with it.
We even drove inside his car and I have to tell you that my parents did enjoyed it and we're amazed, most especially my mother but she did well not to show.
Everyone has been assigned their respective seats at the feast and when I saw all the delicacies, I was quick to hide my food basket.
Everyone's eyes were on us as we stepped out of the car. I'm sure by now everybody must have heard about my little stunt with the stranger's car and now, my whole family and I were seen in the car.
The mayor ushered Mr Svaboda to his seat amongst the very important personnels while I and my parents walked over to the rest of the commoners.
A lot of comments were made at our table but my parents chose to ignore it all and I for once, was not even there. I was busy missing Mr Svaboda's presence around me.
This was the first time that we were separated since when I sneaked behind his car.
I knew it was weird to feel that, but I still felt it none the less.
Could you believe it, we were actually, I mean, I and my family were actually summoned to seat among the important people.
If jealousy existed in my town, then it would have reached the sky that day but my town were the ones to be happy by someone's progress even if it isn't there's and so, we all received cheers as we proceeded to the table that has been secluded for them.
Mr Svaboda offered a seat for me right next to him and I was so happy to oblige by his invitation. I mean, who wouldn't.
The man even insisted that he would only eat the food that my family cooked. This seemed to have made him into mom's favorite as she was the one who served him as well.
The mayor stood and clings on his glass cup and git everyone's attention.
"I want to thank you all for joining us for a great feast today and today, it's all thanks to a very important person in the name of Mr Svaboda" he announced.
Everyone applauded at him while the humble Mr Svaboda just raised his hand at them.
"Well, the reason we are gathered here today is also to announce to you about the improvement that this noble man has brought to us" he continued.
"For years, we have been living in the dark ages, not knowing what the world actually looks like out there, we have been living in mediocrity but now this is about to change as the project TO-X1 would be proceeding here and our life will be prospered" he continued.
There was an applause after that speech.
"Now, I've said enough, let me give our guest of honor a chance to say a thing or two as well" he said and sits back.
Mr Svaboda got up from his seat and looked at me for a brief moment and smiled at me and I did return the favor of course.
"I would like to thank the people of Linsdale for their superb and out of this world hospitality" he started.
"You are really such an amazing people and I can't wait to start implementing this project here and with your generosity and hardwork, I'm sure this will be the best project I would have done so far" he said.
The people of Linsdale must have felt so proud of themselves that day.
"And also, I would like to thank the one who made this sumptuous meal today, it was really delicious" he said, looking at me mother.
He didn't expect that I was capable of such culinary arts I think.
Mother just smiled at him and I was so over the moon that he actually like my food.
There was a few seconds silence after he complemented the chef.
All have thought he might have been done with what he was saying but then he spoke again.
"I would also like to ask a favor of you though, and please don't say no" he said to my mother.
"She would not dare say no to an important figure like you" the mayor cuts in.
He was given the look that he was given earlier which made him sit back, speechless.
I am sure that everyone at that moment was laughing inside from how our never outspoken mayor was finally shut up today.
"As I was saying, I would like to ask something from you" he continued.
My mother nodded, I'm sure thinking he would request for a meal and she is known for being the best chef around town and that, I was lucky to have inherited that talent.
But what he asked was not at all in any of it radar.
"I would to ask for the hand of your daughter in marriage"
