Chapter 19

Many months have passed that I have stopped counting for there was no need for that.
I had been living peacefully in my new found home and my new found friends.
I had also learnt how to communicate with them and to tell you the truth, they were such great listeners.
I would talk to them for hours and hours and they would just sit there silently, as if I was telling them something out if this world.
Or they just didn't understand me.
Sometimes, some animals and birds also migrate here during the dry season as the island was never void of water. One of it's amazing traits.
That reminded me, one day, I was walking into the forest when I stumbled upon a beautiful water fall. The place was surrounded with all beautiful plants and flowers and I just couldn't help but make the place my favorite and even my friends seem to love that place.
We would spend most of our days playing in the water and only going back when it was bed time.
Have I told you that I have also learnt how to sleep in the trees?.
Well, sometimes, whenever I feel too lonely, I used to go up to the tree they live in and stay with them and they were so hospitable.
All was well, that is, until one day, the monkeys just got up and left, without even saying goodbye.
I was just sleeping on their tree one day and when I woke up, there was no one in sight, no one at all.
I called out to them but all I heard was my voice echoeing back to me.
I went in search of them every where but they were nowhere to be found. In fact, even the rest of the animals have also decided to disappear as well and I was the only one left.
At first, I thought that perhaps a volcanic eruption was about to happen and I moved away to the beach, hoping to find a way to escape before that.
But a week passed and nothing happened, not even an indication that something wrong was about to happen in that island.
So, I just convinced myself that they have only migrated and would be back soon.
But they had never done so even during the seasons when most of the animals migrate. I couldn't help but feel guilty that I might have been the one who had been hindering them all this while and now, they have decided to go away.
I was so lonely for days that I thought I was going to die of boredom but then again, I cheered up myself by going to my favorite spot and hoping that soon, the birds would also becoming and would be keeping me company for a while.
Days passed but not a single bird came down to the island. I would only be seeing them flying around and then after a few days, they never showed up again.
I wasn't hurt for that as well but it got me a little worried.
Why were all the animals trying to avoid this island?.
It was said that animals could sense danger from a miles away and would try to run away from it. But what was I in the dark about?.
Was it some natural disaster or what?. I just had no one to answer those questions of mine.
From that day, I started counting. I started counting the days that I was left all alone in there.
My activities have also reduced drastically and all I was left with was to find my own food and walk around doing nothing and then after that, retire to bed. So boring.
But it was not like I could do anything about it. It was not like I could also up and migrate like the others and to make matters worst, my transporter had seemed to have stopped working as well, or maybe it was just out of battery, that I couldn't tell.
But I also didn't have any power source to charge it up and so, it meant that I was literally stuck there, all alone. At least until the animals and birds decided it was ok for them to come back.

Three months, that was what I have counted since the day they have left, three good months.
I woke up just like all the other times, lonely and depressed. I did all that I had to do for the day and stepped out.
As soon as I stepped out, I felt the chill. The air has suddenly changed and when I looked up at the sky, I saw a really black cloud and the trees were all moving restlessly, as if they were also sensing the huge storm that was coming.
Since I had nowhere else to go, I knew I had to do something and so, I went on to work.
I wanted to get ready for the storm before it came.
In no time, I covered up the whole house with more ruffian beddings, hoping that it would help hold the house up till the storm passed.
For days, it just kept on raining, like the sky is going to fall down on it's own and so, I had to stay indoors all that while.
Thankfully I also had enough fruits to survive. It was a bit cozy inside but not as warm as it should have been and I still haven't figured out how to make a fire with no matches.
A week later, I was all out of food and didn't think I could live with all that hunger and so, I decided to head out to find something.
It wasn't raining as heavily though it was still drizzling. I roamed around the whole place, finding whatever it is that is edible and then I decided since it wasn't raining that much, I might as well take a bath.
I stopped by my favorite place and I stripped down my leaf made clothes and dipped into the water.
I really did missed taking a bath for a whole week. With a tree substance that I found out could turn into a foam, I started taking my bath. I also loved the way that minty scent could last for days.
I took time washing my body as well as my hair, knowing that I might have to spend another week with any bath.
While I was taking a bath, I noticed something rather strange. The fishes that used to be in the water were all gone as well. But I didn't bother myself that much, it was probably because of the down pour that they just wanted to hide, or so I thought.
After I had taken my bath, I put back my clothes and headed back home.
Well, it wasn't typical a home but to me, it was one and I have never felt more comfortable in anywhere than that.
As I was approaching, I saw some of the covers I had placed on the cabin had been moved. I was a bit taken aback as to who would actually do that but then I pushed it away. It was probably some wind that blew it off and so, I picked it up and repaired it.
After I was sure I have covered the whole cabin, I walked inside.
The place was all dark and so, I could even see anything. But that wasn't a problem as I have memorized every nook and cranny of the room.
I went over to the kitchen and placed my basket of fruits.
Next, I wanted to pull off my clothes and change into the ones I arrived here with.
I started stripping the dress or something that looked like it and just when it had reached my head and all that was left was for me to finally pull it out, I saw a flashlight.
My heart dropped in my chest, like literally.
In my disoriented state, instead of me to pull back the dress knowing I had company, I threw it away.
At first, the flashlight was blinding my eyes but when it went out of view,I saw him sitting there, on my bed.
"YOU!!!" I gasped.
"Miss me?" that was the first word he had spoken.
At that moment, the first thing that registered to me was to run for my life and I did just that, but I didn't even reached the door when I felt him yank me by the shoulder and he threw me back into the room and I flew back inside, crashing on my bed.
One, I knew my hand was definitely dislocated and secondly, I must have definitely displaced a backbone.
But all it took for them to get back to normal was three seconds and I was back on my feet.
If I could not use the door, then I am definitely using the window.
And that was what I did before he could reach me, I scurried away from the bed and jumped over to the window but I wasn't so lucky as well as he caught up my leg and I crashed, hitting my face flat on the ground and I could feel my nose break.
He didn't stop at that as he pulled me up and tried to pick me but I wasn't done fighting.
With all the might I've had, I hit my head on his and he fell back.
Surely, I did feel the hit but it didn't last much longer. But I couldn't say the same for him.
"Fuck!" he cursed as he pulled back.
All this while, I had completely forgotten about my transporter and all I was thinking about was a way to run away, like I could go any far.
Seeing that he was down for a while, I picked myself up and ran for the door once again. I was struggling to open the door knob when I felt him get up.
Oh Lord! That door had never acted out till today and I just didn't know why.
Seeing that he was getting closer to me, I did the only thing I could, I banged at the door and it didn't budge at first, I tried the second time and it started falling off it's hinges.
While I was trying to push the third time, he pulled me to him by my hair.
I was trying to turn around and strangle him but it was like he had already anticipated my move and so, he restrained both of my hands with his.
I groaned loudly from the pain. Yes, I might be immortal, but I still do feel pain, it's just that it goes away like it never happened in a few seconds and no matter how many times you repeated it.
I felt his heavy breath fanning my face and I closed my eyes in disgust.
I kept cursing at myself for being so careless. I should have seen the signs as soon as I walked in.
Now he has finally caught up with me.
"Do you really think that you could run away from us, huh?" he whispered in my ear.
"Well, at least I tried and I would die trying" I spat back at him.
The disgust I felt for him right now was just so intense that I could literally murder him just with that.
He groaned at my words before be grasped one of my breasts in his hand and tugged at the nipple painfully and I winced.
He then let's go of it and then he clasped my throat with his hand. I thought the was going to just...
Even my thoughts were not finished when I felt him let go of my hand and the next thing I knew, he had twisted my neck in an unusual manner and broken it.
Slowly, I started to feel the darkness surround me and the last thing I heard him saying was.
