Jack Kelly was the leader of Manhattan.
He was supposed to be strong.
Then why was he crying on top of the penthouse?
The strike was a failure, David probably hated him, and he abandoned his newsies.
He abandoned Crutchie.
His brother.
Just like he abandoned Michael.
"Jack help! Race, Albert, Romeo! FINCH!"
"Jack-"
"MICHAEL NO!"
His brain couldn't sort the difference anymore.
He couldn't think straight.
He couldn't operate.
He failed his brothers.
All of them.
The ghost of Michael would follow him for years, haunting him as a reminder of the life the little boy could've lived.
Halloween was when everyone's imagination ran wild, but Jack went still.
Michael was dead, always will be.
But Crutchie's alive.
Race is alive.
Albert, Elmer, Romeo, Buttons, Mush, Kid Blink, Mike, Ike, Specs, Boots, Finch.
The rest of his newsies were still alive.
And it was Jack's job to save them.
Not just as their leader.
But as their brother.
Jack jumped down the fire escape, running down the streets of New York.
He knew what he needed to do.
