"What're you doing here?" Smalls turned around from her seat on the roof "It's late, shouldn't ya be in Manhattan already?"

"Nah, thought I'd spend more time with my best friend." Sniper sat down, letting her legs hand over the edge.

"Right, because that makes so much sense." Smalls joked.

"Somethings up, I always know when something's wrong." Sniper elbowed the other girl.

"Nothing's wr-"

"Please Smallzie? I wanna be here for you."

"...do you ever think we could live a normal life." Smalls turned to her best friend. "Wear big fancy dresses with the poofy sleeves, never having to do a lick of work again."

"No," Sniper shook her head. "Where's all this coming from."

"It's just," Smalls looked around, as if checking to make sure no one was eavesdropping before continuing. "the boys may be poor, but they're still boys, they're still themselves. Us, me, we're changing who we are. We're catering to the world."

"You're not catering to the world." Sniper shook her head. "You're surviving. You know how many expectations those rich girls have? Just because they don't work don't mean they ain't stressed too. You're ahead of the game Smallzie. You're different, you're perfect, and you're better."

"Huh, thanks." Smalls nodded. "I needed that."

"No problem." Sniper slung an arm over Smalls's shoulder. "Plus, you can't run in a skirt, no fun."

"You have a point." Smalls laughed.

Just a little note! Don't be ashamed if you like wearing skirts too! I'm about to go into a rant and feel free to skip, but I think we went from pants being frowned upon to skirts being frowned upon. I know skirt-hating is no where near as bad as trouser-hating was, but I still think it's important to note! In movies and shows the popular girls were always depicted as wearing skirts and now a days the "popular girls" are very sporty and wear jeans or leggings. I wear a skirt everyday because I like how I look in them, and I'm more comfortable in it (bec they're less skin-tight). Yet a lot of people make fun of me for it and I get comments like "gurl why're you wearing a skirt. we don't go to private school".

Wear whatever makes you comfortable/happy!!! You aren't required to stick to fashion trends if you don't want too! Trends come and go, what makes you happy makes you happy.
