3: maniac

Little Long Shen was the youngest child out of six children.

The eldest son inherited the clan.

The second eldest son became the eldest's most trusted confidant.

The eldest daughter married into a prominent family; the family of the Empress.

The second daughter married into the general's family.

The third daughter ran several business that increased the clan's influence.

And the youngest son... was a salted fish.

Long Shen didn't like doing hard work and since his elder siblings were doing quite well, they didn't need him to do anything either. All they expected out of their Shen'er was for him to live a satisfying life until old age.

But that all came to a abrupt halt when a mining worker unearthed a several thousands of year old box buried deep within the cave. The paper stuck on the box were worn out due to time and one touch would crumble it to dust.

When the worker brought it out of the ground... a terrifying aura enveloped tens of kilometers and killed all the living within its range.

This included the empire where the Long's lived.

At that time, only Long Shen and his eldest sister, who had come home to visit him, survived.

.

"Sorcerers?"

"Remember that time the fields always look like someone had stepped on the crops? I've heard it was caused by what they call curses."

"Can you not tell such creepy stories early in the day?"

"It's not simply a story, you know?"

A young man walked pass the gossiping ladies, holding a woven basket in his arms. This person had just finished collecting some wild vegetables from the mountain when he stumbled upon these gossiping ladies on his way back to the madam's courtyard.

Curses... I wonder if that Mister Curse has come back already? Long Shen soundlessly chuckled under his breath. The last time they encountered each other, it had already been over a fortnight. Perhaps he accidentally sent the curse too far?

At the thought of this, Shen shrugged his shoulders.

If that guy couldn't even return back here, then Shen's interest in him would dissipated just like that. There was no point being interested in someone who failed to reach his expectations, after all.

It was a pity, really.

That last fight they had seemed to pique his thirst for blood. Other than the spirit he dealt with in his home country, this Mister Curse was the strongest he had encountered in this place.

He kinda missed exchanging blows already.

Shen wondered when would that curse come back for his head?

The shaman was definitely looking forward to it!

.

.

Although the public knew that the youngest Long was a salted fish, there was one thing they didn't know about Long Shen that all his siblings knew.

And that was his monstrous talent as a shaman.

When the unknown aura killed indiscriminately, it had caught Shen off guard who never even thought that there was a being as powerful as it. That was why the only person he could save was his elder sister who was with him at the time.
