It was strange.

For the past two years, Sukuna didn't leave the mountain to terrorize any humans. Instead, he spent every day with the shaman who lived under the same roof. He would hunt for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He would steal clothes from the city at the base of the mountain and snacks that Long Shen craved.

If the shaman wanted to take a peaceful night's stroll, Sukuna would take him to a lake far east of their abode. He would cover the shaman in robes when the night gets too cold, and would fan him when the summer heat becomes too much.

Whenever Long Shen asked him to hold him, Sukuna would wordlessly do so.

And yet, that feeling of being abandoned never ceased.

So, he never let Long Shen out of his sight.

"Sukuna," the daydreaming curse lowered his gaze, staring at the human lying on his lap. "Do you remember Chiyemi? The little human girl who fearlessly followed you up here."

Sukuna grunted in response. "What about it?"

"This Excellency wondered... what sort of human child were you? Were you naughty? Were you behaved?"

The curse remained silent. Each time this shaman started conversations like this, the urge to shut him up often builds up inside Sukuna's chest.

"Or were you like Chiyemi, fearlessly naive?"

"Did you like the human girl that much?"

"... this Excellency is not certain. She was cute, yes, and I was the youngest among my siblings, so seeing Chiyemi made me think what if I had a younger sibling."

"Youngest?"

"That's right," to Sukuna's surprise, the shaman continued. "I had two elder brothers and three elder sisters, all whom were of the best in their path. I lived quite free and this Excellency didn't need to work hard. My siblings and parents fussed over me every time I complained about every little thing."

Perhaps recalling the past lightened Shen's somewhat gloomy mood this past two years and he for once, he laughed as if nothing weighed on his shoulders.

"If I wanted this and that, no matter how rare and expensive, they would buy it for me. Everything this Excellency ever wanted, I held in the palm of my hands. Yes, that's who I used to be until—"

Long Shen abruptly cut himself off.

The suddenness caught Sukuna's attention. Observing the shaman, he wondered what was going through his mind while staring at the sky with such a dazed expression. "Sukuna," Long Shen called once again. "A day will come, and you shall kill this Excellency."

Kill.

Ah.

What was he talking about?

Sukuna didn't understand.

Sure, he used to declare that he would kill the lunatic and become the winner in their battle. However, in the time they travelled together, had Sukuna ever thought of achieving that goal in the future? No, never. In fact, what he thought of during that time, was to keep this shaman by his side.

"That day will never come," Sukuna stated in certainty. "Lunatic Shen, I'm... satisfied with what we have now. So, do not speak of those things, and leisurely spend your days by my side."
