EXTRA 4
What if Long Shen 'died' instead of becoming a wandering spirit, and was given the chance to reincarnate?"Ge, why are we hiding?"
Ten-year-old Long Xiang whispered, confused why he and his twin brother hid inside the classroom's broom storage.
"Shh, shut up," Long Shen hissed under his breath. "Remember how there are rumors at school that children are going missing?"
"Huh? Aren't they just rumors?" Xiang got flicked on the forehead.
"Of course it's not, dumdum. There's something out there kidnapping them and it's right in front of our classroom. Don't ask anymore questions, got it?" Shen quickly added the last sentence, making Xiang cover his mouth with both hands.
The older twin resisted the urge to pinch his brother's cheeks. Pinch them later, get rid of the curse first. "Anyway, stay here and be sure not to make a sound. I'll go and deal with it."
Before Shen could leave, Xiang held his hand back. "But, isn't it dangerous? Ge, what if we just wait for help?"
"Times like these, we only have each other. If we wait for help, things are just going to get worse."
Xiang still didn't release him so Shen had no choice but to face his brother, grabbing both his shoulders firmly. "Your ge is the strongest, so don't worry too much. I still have a promise to keep, remember?"
"... yeah. You still have to buy me ice cream later."
Shen grinned and couldn't resist anymore. He reached out to pinch Xiang's cheek who giggled soundlessly. "I'll come pick you up in a while."
With that, the older brother left the storage, making sure to keep it close tight that no one else would be able to open it other than him. At the end, Shen slapped a talisman over the lock, completely sealing it. If anyone tried to force it open, they would experience being struck by lightning.
"Alright," the little shaman patted his pockets, making sure that he had enough talismans. "Gotta deal with it quickly. Our jies are going to wonder why we're late." He and Xiang were left behind because they had to write a reflection letter.
Well, it was more him than Xiang. His brother just accompanied him. Shen ended up fighting against some sixth graders because they kept picking on his little brother. Ha, those guys probably got stuck here, too. They must be shivering in fear.
The boy walked around school in such a relaxed manner, as if he wasn't searching for a curse responsible for several missing child cases.
"Run!"
A voice echoed down the hall. Two pairs of footsteps soon followed and rounding around the corner, two younger children almost bumped into Shen. The little shaman skillfully grabbed the two boys by their waist.
"Wao—!"
"What the— What's with—?!"
One voice exclaimed in surprise and the other roared in anger, only to quiet down in an instant.
Long Shen placed them behind him, pulling out two talismans from his pocket and handing one to each boy. "Take this and enter Room 201. After you enter, stick them to the door, okay?"
"Huh? What's this paper for?"
"..."
Shen didn't have enough time to explain things to these twins. Instead, he pushed them and urged them to run. "Just run. I'll explain later!"
