Thunder rang out and the sky was illuminated by the lightning. The rain had drenched him from head to toe. It was dark and the streetlights weren't enough for him to see where he was going. His mind was running a hundred miles a minute, he just wished he could be as fast as his brain. Maybe then he'd escape. He had to keep running. He couldn't look back. If he looked back then... he would only see the flames. Merciless flames that devoured everything in it and left behind only ashes.

When Sai came to, he wasn't surprised to find himself in the infirmary. He head still ached and the lights seemed too bright. He knew the migraine would last for a few more hours but for now he was fine. Physically.
He could no longer hear anyone's thoughts. And his body didn't feel like it was running on adrenaline either. He didn't feel any urges to fight and crush people. That high of the battle was gone. He could feel his body and powers back in control. That meant that someone had given him the correct suppressants. Which meant that...
"Oh dearie, you're awake!" an old woman's voice rang out in the room.
He was at UA under Recorvery Girl's care in the infirmary.
"Why did you have to jump into battle?! You could've died!" Followed by that statement was a whack to his arm with a cane.
Sai didn't respond and instead moved his focus to his homeroom teacher standing by the door leaning against the wall.
"I know you have questions and I will probably also get scolded but could you please at least not pretend that the principal is not listening in?" The black-haired boy said as he sat up with slight struggle.
The door opened and the principal of UA happily strolled in and climbed his homeroom teacher's shoulder.
"You are an interesting human indeed, Fujishima Sai!" The principal, Nezu, said. "Makes me wonder about all the things you have kept hidden."
Sai didn't answer and just stared back at his teachers. At some point, All Might had also decided to join them. He tensed as his gaze landed on the Number One hero. The USJ incident had reminded him of some very unpleasant memories.
"This test subject is a success. He can easily be one of your host bodies and bring about the end of All Might!"
Those words echoed at the back of his head before he shook them off. He sighed shakily as he waited for one of the teachers to speak first. From this moment on, he would have to be careful with his answers so as to not reveal his identity as the underground broker that he is and definitely not as the child that had been missing since three years ago.
"Why did you not let us know of your powers? What exactly is your quirk?" Aizawa asked getting impatient of the silence.
If Sai had guessed correctly, Aizawa had not liked the fact that he had hidden his true abilities so far. That was, if the quirk apprehension test was anything to go by.
"My quirk is called Psychic. It embodies a mixture of a lot of mental and a few body enhancing quirks," Sai started explaining. "It's too strong. Too much for me to handle. It's nothing short of a miracle that I haven't gone insane yet."
Nezu regarded him carefully with his smile now gone. That means he had become something for the principal to investigate into. This had just gotten a lot more serious.
"And how did you know the villain?" Nezu asked, his dark, beady eyes staring deep into Sai's soul.
This was a difficult question, a question he could not answer before revealing his identity. Luckily, he dabbled in the world of half-truths and was a quite a master of deceit.
With a grim look, he met the principal's eyes and said, "Because he killed my mother, my only family, right in front of me."
The teachers looked to be in shock. They hadn't expected this answer and definitely not the vengeful look in his eyes. Sai briefly entertained the idea of becoming an actor.
"Apparently they wanted me for my quirk and to do that, they had to sever my ties with my family and society," he continued after a small pause. His homeroom teacher seemed to grow more distressed as he continued. "Luckily, I was able to run away. And I found shelter with someone. Since then, they haven't tracked me down but I don't think they were here today for me."
With that everyone's gaze turned to All Might.
"They wanted to kill All Might. And they wouldn't have made such bold claims unless they had the means to back it up," Nezu said as everyone agreed in some way or another.
"However, seeing as how you defeated the Nomu so easily, I wonder at what level you would stand against All Might," Nezu now turned to look at Sai. "Has the Number One hero finally met his match?"
Sai just wished he could have crawled underneath his blanket and sleep for a hundred years. He was not paid enough to play these games.
"I'm sorry to disappoint you principal but I do not wish to do that again. These powers are more or less a curse," he clenched his fist and then opened it as he let his words sink in. "It has taken more than it has given. And it will continue to do so unless I find a way to get rid of it. Or at least some aspects of it. What I mean to say is, I won't use my powers to a hundred percent. Not again. Everyone at USJ was quite lucky that we had Eraserhead there."
Sai got up from the bed and looked at Recovery Girl. "May I please leave now, Ma'am? That is, unless you have some tests to run."
Recovery Girl only shook her head slightly before giving him a candy and telling him he could leave. Sai bowed to his teachers before he grabbed his suppressents and walked out of the infirmary. Now he just had to get his back and get out of this school. Since he had handled the attack, it was safe to say that now he could transfer. Only he might have to wait for a few days before that happens.

As Sai walked back to the classroom to collect his bag, he found all of his classmates waiting for him in there. As soon as they saw him, they started hounding him with questions.
"Are you alright?"
"You aren't hurt right?"
"You were awesome! How did you do that?!"
"What exactly IS your quirk?"
"How dare you look down on me you pathetic nerd!"
The last one was slightly nostalgic. Sai almost slipped and called out the explosive blond's childhood nickname just to see if he would rile up further. Sadly, he was too tired for these questions.
"Yeah, I'm fine everyone. It was just quirk overuse. As for my quirk, it's more of a curse than a blessing. And even I am not aware of its full extent. So I can't answer your questions regarding that."
The class settled down a little as he walked over to his bag that was kept on his desk and decided to part ways with his class. He did not miss the look of sympathy that Todoroki gave him. If only Sai could reveal how he knew of the boy's family secrets and ruin his father's career without his identity being at risk.
"It's been a pretty tiring day. I think I will head home now. Take care everyone. Get home safe." The class didn't stop him as he walked away.
Halfway to the school gates, he was stopped by his old childhood friend.
"You. I will surpass you one day. That's my promise to you! I will defeat you and stand at the top!"
Sai turned and looked at his old friend with a fond gaze that he had to conceal.
"It would be an honour."
With that Sai started his journey back home. Afterall, he had a job to get back to.
