A student peered into Library Room #4 with irritation as everyone inside socialized loudly, the opposite of what a quiet library should be.

With a sigh, they closed the door.

"If you're looking for a quiet place, ironically it isn't the library," a kind voice advised.

The student glanced over, wide, brown eyes immediately catching bold, red hair.

The red-haired student's face was covered by her hair, only revealing her mouth.

It also seemed she wore a redesigned school uniform, that wasn't nearly as large.

"I've noticed. What kind of school is this?"

"The kind that can't appreciate silence outside of exams. But there are a few places with the rarity. Would you like me to show you?"

Haruhi nodded, "I'd like that, thanks."

The two students walked side-by-side as one was guided through the hall.

"You're Haruhi Fujioka, correct?"

"Yeah, how did you know?"

The girl smiled softly, "If you didn't already know about the library, I can tell you are new."

"This place has four library rooms. You'd think one of them would be quiet," Haruhi grumbled.

"I gave up on studying in them—Oh!" the red-haired student shook her head, "How rude of me, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Amei Hinode, I'm in class 3-A."

Haruhi blanched, before switching out of casual speaking, "You're a...third year? No offense, but you don't look like it."

"I'm not that much shorter than you, there's not even that much of a difference," Amei pouted.

"I suppose that's fair, Senpai."

"And I'm not strict with honorifics, you can speak comfortably with me if you'd like."

"Alright, Senpai."

"I like your style. It's wonderful to see something so nonconforming to gender for once. The variety is nice," Amei started up the stairs.

"I think that gender is irrelevant in how a person should be perceived."

"Hmm...I agree. Often, people associate someone's gender with who they are or how they should behave. I think it depends on the person instead. I also believe men can be soft without them being 'girly or emasculate' and women can be the opposite without 'trying to be manly'."

"It's not often I meet someone who thinks like that. It's refreshing."

Amei lightly chuckles, "Hm. This seems like the start of a good relationship, Haruhi. I hope to get along with you well as my Kohai."

The rest of the walk was filled with comfortable silence, both girls in their thoughts.

"... There's an empty room, across from music room #3," Amei directed as Haruhi zoned back in.

"Thank you, Hinode-Senpai."

"Sure. Let me know if you need anything else, alright?"

Haruhi walked to a door, "Music room #3... That's what she said, right?"

Amei's eyes widened as she heard the words echo in the empty hallway, spinning around, she dashed to stop her.

"Wait, Haruhi! Not that one!"

But just as she grabbed her shoulder, she realized she was too late as the rose petals flew from the open door.

"Welcome!"
