3rd Pov:
Amei sighed, looking at her watch again.
"Senpai?"
She tiredly trailed her gaze to Haruhi, a small smile on her face.
"Oh, hello, Haruhi. You're still here?"
"Yeah, I was getting chewed out by the prince. Something about a first kiss or something, I dunno. I tuned him out."
The elder girl chuckled, "Yes, he was quite riled up."
"What're you doing here? We finished cleaning up a while ago."
Amei pouted, tugging at her crossbody strap, "Ah...I think my father forgot to call my new driver for me. I don't have the driver's number yet, so I can't call him myself."
"Can't you just call your father?"
An uncharacteristically bitter laugh left the senior's lips at that.
"He's a world-renowned patissier and chocolatier. Why would he have time for me when he has the world to impress? He has to work hard, I don't get in the way of that."
"Your...mom?"
"She's in America right now doing her best, and the time zones are different. Besides, she's not involved in this situation. She couldn't help me anyway."
Haruhi took a few steps forward, standing next to the shorter female.
"That seems pretty lonely."
Amei offered a forced grin, "I see it as something they need to do for the benefit of the family. They work hard every day. That's why I want to make them proud and do the same."
"So...what're you going to do? You can't get home without a driver, right?"
Amei's face held determination, "I'm going to sleep outside! Something like survival of the fittest, you know?"
Haruhi sweatdropped, wondering if this girl was really older than her.
"You can't sleep outside, Senpai. There are bugs and hobos."
"What's a hobo?"
She sighed, "I guess...you can stay with me for tonight."
Amei tilted her head, "Is that really okay? I don't want to intrude because you feel obligated. Would your parent or guardian be okay with it?"
"Yeah, my dad would be fine with it—It's not about obligation. I'm not gonna let you sleep outside. It's spring, which means it's cold at night. It's dangerous. Besides, I'm only letting you because you're the only rich person who wouldn't judge my house."
Amei tilts her head with furrowed brows, "Why would I judge your house? Just because you don't live in a mansion doesn't mean anything."
"Exactly. That's exactly why... come on."
"I'm so excited! This'll be my first sleepover!"
"You've never had a sleepover before?"
A head shake, "No. My friend and I don't have schedules that can be matched up. And my only other true friends are on the other side of the world. I don't have any deep friendships with anyone here. These rich kids hear my name and want to impress their friends and family by saying they're my friends. That's how it works in our world, Haruhi."
"That's...really sad," Haruhi began walking, her senpai following.
"We get used to it—Hm?"
Amei's phone buzzes, she flips it open, noticing she received a text from an unknown number.
