"Daph? Really? Her?.." Debbie said while looking at Daphne.
"Sorry I wasn't able to tell you but don't worry, Debbs, she's nice.." Daphne answered.
"What?? Nice??.."
"Why? Don't I look nice to you?" Lou asked her.
"I don't know because I never looked at you.." Debbie answered back. Daphne smiled and took a sip of water to prevent herself from laughing.
"FYI, OCEAN, I'm one of the nicest people in this world.."
"Wait, you don't know the real definition of the word 'nice,' do you?"
"I do. Our university taught us that term."
"Really? tell me what university you went to."
"Why would I tell you? You simply cannot afford to go there."
"Even if I can afford it, I won't go there to study. There's nothing NICE about you, Ms. Miller" Daphne cleared her throat. She needs to interfere before they throw things at each other. Lucky for her, Nich has already arrived.
"Hey, Ladies.." Nich said. Lou stands up so Nich can sit beside Bom.
"Hey Ocean, can I sit beside you?" Lou asked her. Debbie just rolled her eyes, and Nich smiled at the two.
"So, what brings you here, Lou?"Nich, ask her.
"I wanted to talk to Ocean.." she answered and looked at the girl beside her.
"Talk to me about what?" Debbie asked with confusion.
"I have a job proposal for you," Lou answered.
"Job proposal?" Debbie asked.
"Yes, and I'm willing to pay you $2000 a week.." Debbie, who was drinking at that time, almost choked on what she heard.
" $2000 a week?!?!?!"
"Do you really have to repeat everything I said?" Lou ask. Debbie rolled her eyes at her.
"I'm willing to pay you extra if you do well on the job I'll offer you."
" And what kind of job will you offer me?" Debbie asked.
"I'll tell it to you tonight.." Lou answered
"Tonight?"
"Yes, I want you to have dinner with me.." Debbie looks at her in disbelief.
"Are you asking me or commanding me?" Debbie asked
"Well, I'm your boss, so I'm more on commanding than asking.." Lou replied.
"Jerk.." Debbie whispered.
"You saying something?" Lou asked.
"Oh, nothing. Thanks for the offer, but I'm not interested.." Debbie rejected.
"I won't take no for an answer, sweetie.." Lou said.
"I already said I'm not interested! and don't call me sweetie." Debbie replied with irritation.
"Oh, come on, I know you badly needed an extra income" Debbie looked at Daphne.
"Don't look at me like that," Daphne said
"I heard you talking to your friend. That's why I knew you needed extra money, and me being a good Samaritan, want to help you.." Lou butted in
*Good Samaritan? This girl is so full of herself!* Debbie muttered.
"I am still not interested, but I appreciate the offer.." she said again. Lou received a phone call.
"I'll be back, and you have 10 minutes to make up your mind," she excused herself and went out of the restaurant for a while.
"Come on, Debbie, accept her offer. You can't find a job that pays $2,000 per week." Nicholas said, trying to convince her.
"He's right, Debbie." Daphne butted in. Debbie sighed, she knew they were right, and Lou's offer was quite tempting. She really needs additional funds to pay their bills and rent. Daphne saw Lou walking back to their table.
"Have you changed your mind, baby?" Lou asked Debbie as soon as she sat beside her again.
"Yes, Lou, Debbie will have dinner with you tonight. Just inform her where and when you'll be meeting." Daphne said. Lou smiled from ear to ear.
"Great! I 'Il give you the address later.." Debbie gets back to work after their lunch.
The time goes by so fast. After completing her shift, Debbie is now on her way back home. When she arrived at their apartment, Tammy had already cooked their dinner while Constance was studying in the living room.
Are you going out tonight, Debbie?" Tammy questioned her sister as she watched her open the closet, take out some clothes, and then lie down on her bed for a bit.
"Uhm yeah, it's uhmm, Daphne's birthday today." She lied and glanced at the ceiling, thinking about what kind of work Lou would offer her. She glanced at the clock and saw it was already 5:35 in the afternoon. She and Lou would meet at the restaurant at about 7 p.m.
