There was a small beep! On our wrist maps as we got sent the locations. "I'll reach out to team 4 about the withdrawal. You go ahead and start proceeding to Point B," said the pilot before walkie talkie checked off. "Alright," I said, "Let's go?" We left our location and started going down the hallway. By the looks of it, we would be arriving at the point in about 5 minutes. At least I was a bit jumpy. It also didn't help that it was basically dead silent here, so at the slightest noise that wasn't mine or my groups' I flinched. I've encountered many things, both decant and absolutely terrible, but nothing could be compared to this. When we were just a few turns from Point b, we heard rapid footsteps behind us. We all turned around, but there was nothing. That's when I realized it was coming from above us. It was in the vent shaft. The footsteps stopped, right above me. I looked up a bit. I felt my blood go cold as I saw that I was right under a vent, and I saw his eyes staring at me. They lit up a bit in the darkness, probably with some kind of night vision. He seemed to squint his eyes a bit, but I wasn't too sure, and he continued down the air shaft. I held my breath for a second, and when I could confirm he was gone, I breathed out and almost completely collapsed. "Oh my ^&*#ing god." I said in an almost whisper tone. After a few moments I got up and said, "Let's hurry up." "You sure you're okay? We can pause for a moment if you need to." said Unit Eleven. "I'm fine, let's hurry on now." I responded. As we continued, I felt myself streaming internally. I just barely escaped being mauled. Heh, who knew that being so close to death could be so terrifying. We got to where the marker on the map said. There was another little beep! And the dot came off the map. Now we wait. "What's up mate?" someone said behind me. I flinched and turned around to see it was none other than Unit nine. "Jesus, you scared me," I said. "Well, it could be worse. You could have someone with an AK and two bottles of vodka, one for drinking and one for bashing into your head," said Unit Two. "Well, at least you weren't just a few meters from death by being mauled by that experiment thing," I responded. "Okay okay, let's calm down you two. Let's just get to that helicopter and be on our way," said Unit Six, thinking that we were about to fight and was trying to be the hero or whatever. We then continued down the hallways to reach a ladder that would take up to Point A. The walk was rather quiet, other than the occasional whispered conversations between Units 9 and 6 and some other people. I remained quiet, trying to stay focused. Once we reached the ladder, I noticed that the sides and ladder seemed a bit clawed up. I tried not to think much of it as I went up the ladder, thinking it was just a reaction between the cold Canadian snow and the rather warm facility.
