Location- Remains of the Facility 14
Time- 14:43
POV- [ REDACTED ]
I looked out of the helicopter, and saw that we were not far from the ruins of the facility where we were making our superweapon. Our task was to scavenge out anything that could be of use, from USBs to random vials that had any fluids. "Scared that the monster is going to get ya'?" said one of my co-workers. "He's dead, or did you not get the memo?" "He's just teasing you, don't mind him," said one of the other guys as he came up to me. I knew he was, but I didn't care. I just felt like snapping back at him. The helicopter then started to land, and a few minutes later we were out of it. "Call me whenever you're ready to be picked up. I'll be watching the perimeter for any threats." said the pilot through the walkie talkie to us, and started to go up and away. "Alright, let's all go separate ways. We'll cover more land faster that way," said the one guy that hasn't talked yet. We all went with this plan. I was going East, teasing guy West, the guy that told me he was teasing North, and the guy giving orders was going to investigate this part of the facility that was separated from the main. I started going along my way, and for the first five minutes all was quiet and fine. There was only scrap metals and chunks of concrete and metal rod framing. A minute later, I heard metal collapse, and I flinched. Sure, it was just metal, but in the middle of a dead silence? Really? I went over to investigate, and saw that the metal that supposedly collapsed was covered with claw marks. This unsettled me a bit, since they looked a bit fresh. I then noticed a trail of blood that led away from the metal. I followed the trail a bit, and started to realize that it was fresh blood. I stopped, pulled out my walkie talkie, and said, "Hey guys,I found claw marks and a trail of blood. It all looks fresh. What should I do?" "Stay right where you are, we'll come to you," replied the head guy. I waited a few minutes before they arrived. They looked a bit unsettled at the site. The guy who was teasing earlier took his walkie talkie and said, "Hey pilot? Can you follow us from a distance? We think we found something that we might need your help with." The pilot said he would do so, and I saw that the helicopter was tagging on a little bit, but wasn't terribly close. We decided to follow the trail, and it seemed to go on forever. After almost 15 minutes of walking, the trail thinned and stopped right by a small pond that led off to nearby mountains. I didn't want to believe it, but every part of me was telling me that he lived and escaped and was going towards nearby settlements. My peers seem to feel the same, because they all looked a bit freaked out. The head guy says into the walkie talkie, "Hey pilot, what's the code for possible-end-of-humanity again?" "Code Black I believe," replied the pilot. "Yeah, we have a Code Black." "Oh s&$@..." There was a moment of silence before one of the guys said, "So how should we try to stop this? We can't cover up a freaking kaiju, and it hits its giant growth spurt in less than 2 days and we have no idea where he is." There was a minute of silence before I proposed an idea. "We could try to contact Units Seven and Eleven," I said, "They have first hand experience with him,and probably have better information about him than any of us." Everyone seems to agree that this was probably the best source for trying to stop, or even prevent, this problem.
A few hours later......
I heard knocking on my door. I was laying down on my bed, too tired to sleep. Everything that happened at the facility kept going through my mind, and everytime worse than the other. "I'll be there in a little!" I shouted at the excessive knocking. It finally stopped, and I went to go get myself to look somewhat acceptable to society. I opened the door and saw it was one of my co-workers from the police station. "Hey Charlie. I was just checking in. I heard you finished that side mission. Care to talk about it?" they said. "It..wasn't that much. Probably too boring for you...anyways." I replied, trying to quickly come up with something to cover up the facility. I wasn't in the mood to openly talk about it. "Understandable. Most side missions are rather boring compared to the big thing at the office. Speaking of that, we did catch that psychotic person, and he's in custody." they said. I was hoping I would feel some relief from that, but I didn't. It was nothing to what I've seen now. I slowly nodded my head a bit, acting like I thought that was cool. "Are you okay?" he said. "You just... seem a bit exhausted. And your shoulder seems a bit swollen. Do you need a day or two off?" I forgot I was wearing a random tank top-looking thing I found in my house, so now the whole world could see my bruised and slightly swollen shoulder. Great. "Yeah yeah, I'm fine. Just fell a funky way. And I'm not exhausted, just a bit tired. I'm just fine." "Alright alright....." they said. "Also these weird guys that claim there from this thing called Morigon are right outside. Should I bring them over?" he continued. My heart stopped, and I asked, "Can you go tell them to go away and I'm not open at the moment?" However before he could respond, three guys came up. "Could you excuse us?" said what seemed to be the lead guy. The two other guys looked rather menacing, at least to my co-worker, and he scooted away from the scene. The two other guys left, and it was just me and the lead guy. "May I come in? I have some important things to discuss with you." he asked. I wasn't happy with Morigon just coming back like this, but I said, "Fine, you can come in. Just make your business here quick. I've had it with you guys." I was purposefully snarky about it, but he seemed to just shrug it off. There was a moment of silence before he said, "Due to some evidence, we believe that Project BlueWing had survived the explosion, just barely, and is proceeding towards minor settlements." "So you're telling me all of me and Unit Eleven's efforts were in vain and the world is probably going to end because of your narcissism?" "Shouldn't you be freaking out right now? Humanity is on the line because of that thing." "I am internally freaking out and screaming bloodymurder, s you can shut your b@$&% ass mouth up." He seemed unnerved by my statement, and proceeded to say with a forced calm voice, "Well, we were wondering if you and Unit Eleven could provide us with any valuable information about him, or the weapon you used to divert him as you barely escaped." "Unit Eleven had the weapon almost the entire time. Ask him about it." I said, and my phone rang. I went to pick it up, and saw that it was Unit Eleven. " Let me guess, you also have Morigon agents at your house asking about our associations with the creature?" I said, and he replied, "Yep. Looks like we're getting ourselves deeper into the fog." "Are you going to help them, even after everything?" I asked him. "Well, the guys that came to mine are a bit more radical, so I kind of have to. You?" I hesitated to respond. I was now torn between leaving Morigon to fend for themselves and helping Unit Eleven. "Maybe," I said, "You'll see later. I have to go now." We said bye and hung up. "So, what is your decision? Help us or let the world end?" said the Morigon agent, not even bothering to give me a moment to think. I sighed, knowing my next decision would probably end with me being killed, and said, "Unit Eleven is going to need some help probably, and that's the only reason I'm going with you. Nothing else, so don't try to sugarcoat it or whatever shit you guys do to keep people in." "Alright then, let's leave now. Business has to move fast." he said with a colder tone. I should've been a bit lighter on my response, but whatever. Here we go........again.
