*TWO MONTHS LATER*

LUCIA POV:

"LUZ!" I screamed.

"LUZ GET UP."

"Ugghm five more minutesgh.."

"ughh you're so annoying.." I pinched Luz's ear really hard, waking her up.

"LUCIA. GOD WHAT THE HELL."

"YOURE SUPPOSED TO BE OUT THE DOOR IN TEN MINUTES THATS WHAT, NOW HURRY UP."

Her eyes widened and I she completely dropped her tried demeanor.

"WHAT?!"

Luz jumped out of bed making her way to the bathroom. Mami had made it clear it was my job to wake Luz up in time for her first day of school, but my alarm didn't wake me, and I wanted to use the shower first soo.. yeah.

I got out of Luz's room and made my way downstairs where Mami was cooking breakfast for us.

"Hola mamá."

"¡Lucia!" she began, "¿No se te olvido despertar a tu hermana verdad?"
(Lucia! You'd didn't forget to wake up your sister did you?)

"¡Pfft, claro que no!"
(Pfft, of course not!)

"Claro..." Mamá said, in a tone that made it clear she didn't believe me.
(Sure....)

I walked over to the table and sat down, taking out my phone to scroll through meaningless videos so I could pass some time.

I was watching a video of some cat named Gandalf licking a cracker until Mami interrupted it,

"You know you should really try to make some friends Lucia. I know you're only here for break before college starts again, but it wouldn't hurt to have people to spend time with during this."

I took a breath in.

"I know mamá, don't worry I'm gonna be finee."

"Alright.."

Luz came down the stairs and ate breakfast with us as we talked about how her school day was gonna go. We finished up, brushed our teeth, and got into the car. Surprisingly mami let me drive.

She's never been too comfortable with me driving, considering I have had some rough moments here and there, but I'm really not that bad!

We pull up to Luz's school, and drop her off. Mamá pestering her and hugging her, talking about how she's grown up so much. Y'know the usual first day of school emotional rollercoaster for parents. I start to get bored so I scan around the front of the school, seeing other kids with their parents in the same situation Luz is right now.

Except for someone.

She looked around Luz's age, she had green hair with brown roots poking out.

Reminds me of Luz's dance instructor—

She seemed to be eyeing a white car that was parking, nervously fidgeting. Waiting for her parents to exit the car and pester her as well, I'd assume.

But instead two kids around 17 years old exited the car and made their way to her.

Must be her siblings, they're probably juniors. Ha, they're gonna hate their lives this year.

And then she stepped out the car.

She had a black slip dress, along with a necklace and a gray zip-up sweater, and some black shoes. Her hair was also in a half-down—half-up style, her bangs not getting pulled back, flowing freely on her face.

I could feel the blood rush up to my face.

Woah.... WAIT IS THAT HER DAUGHTER?! Wait no— that makes no sense, I'm dumb, it's her sister. Yeah that actually makes sense.

She looked nothing short of gorgeous. I barley even know this chick but she has style. I've seen it through her hair and outfits I've seen her in when picking Luz up from class. Even when she has to go teach some demons for almost an hour straight she's got a good outfit. Not to mention that tattoo she has on her upper stomach. And her hair, the way it's dyed looks so good—

"LUCIA."

I was snapped back to reality by my moms voice.
I looked towards her, Luz missing.

"You were so distracted mija. I called your name like ten times. Come on let's go, Luz already went inside the school."

"Oh alright."

As we made our way back to the car I could feel my face was warm, a but embarrassed by my mom catching me distracted. Specifically because I was distracted by her.

We got into the car, I buckled my seatbelt, and started on our way home.

"So," Mami began, "What's going on with Amber? She hasn't been around at all."

"Oh uh, we broke up, around two months ago. She ended it, said she was tired."

"Hm, I'd thought so."

I hummed in response as a turned a corner, my bracelet clacking against the steering wheel.

A moment of silence passed before Mami started speaking again.

"I never liked her much anyways. She never said hi to me or Luz when passing by, and always had such a bitter attitude towards you."

"Yeah..." I sighed, "I guess she did huh? Never really thought about that before."

"I saw you eyeing that girl over there when we were with Luz. The green-haired one with the grey sweater. Something going on there?"

We stopped at a red light, and I turned my head to face my mother, only to be met with a raised eyebrow and the biggest smirk known to man.

"Oh my god mamá..." I covered my face with my hands, my voice being slightly muffled as I slouched in my seat.

"Whaaat, I'm just asking,"

I sat back up in my chair and started up again.

"Can't a mother be curious about her daughters life?"

"Yes mamá, but she's Luz's dance instructor. I cant just LIKE HER."

"Uh huh," she replied, "Whatever you say. However I did also see Luz glancing over that woman's younger sister, so I guess you both have a thing for people with green hair."

"MAMÁ!!"
