A/N Sorry for the late upload. I have been rather busy with school and other stuff but I am back now!

After breakfast, which consisted of French toast and ginger tea, I wandered around the enormous castle, trying to help any of the servants. They, however, refused to let me help them and rushed away, rather suspiciously may I add, before I could ask.

At around 5 o'clock (which didn't come soon enough), I headed back up to my room to get ready. I had to greet the guests when they came, an annoying yet necessary chore to make a good impression. And I needed as many of those good impressions as I could so the people would love me. I pushed open my mahogany door and entered the room. With great difficulty, I changed into the outfit my maid had left upon the bed and applied some light makeup. I rushed to the tall mirror on the door of my cupboard and took in the reflection.

The light purple gown was adorned in slightly darker roses on the left side which decreased in number down the side of the skirt. The train of the gown trailed a good 12 feet from the thick ribbon - which was tied in a bow at the back - around my waist. Light, silk violet gloves covered my hand and I wore high heeled shoes to match. Finally a plain silver tiara rested upon my brown hair, which was styled in a waterfall braid.

When I was happy with my style, I took one last glance at the mirror and waltzed out the room. I scurried down the stairs (and almost slipped because who doesn't when they're running down a flight of stairs with heels?) and skidded to a stop in front of the grand oak doors. Daisy, who was wearing her best outfit, was already waiting for me.  I took one last deep breath and together, we pulled open the doors and waited for everyone to pass through.

"Good evening Duke Ernando, how is the weather in your land?"

"Hello to you too Prince David. I hope you enjoy the ball!"

"It's been a while Countess Stephanie. Don't worry, we have plenty of jelly for you."

I repeated the process of greeting the guests and it was quite boring. Sure, they each had different traditions and salutations but it was very repetitive. This took until well past 7 o'clock until finally, the last guest walked through the doors. He was about 6'1 and had jet black hair, complimenting his deep topaz eyes. He was wearing a midnight blue suit and his hair was slicked to the side. He wore many silver rings around his fingers. As Daisy closed the doors, I couldn't help but think about how stunning he looked. I must have been staring for too long because Daisy quickly nudged me and gave me a look that signifies 'Well? Aren't you going to say hello?' I quickly snapped out of my thoughts and said, "Nice to see you again Prince Kaleb of the Midnight Isles. You look very nice today."

"Why thank you Anthea. You look very pretty as well. Also, just call me Kaleb in the future, ok? No need for my full title." he replied with a smirk evident on his face.

With a nod, I led him into the main hall and stood near the staircase to the podium at the front of the room. After a couple minutes of the guests chatting with each other, my mother, Diabolos, or Queen Dia as everyone called her, emerged onto the royal balcony. She was wearing a red, glittery sleeveless dress, of which the flowing skirt dragged behind her. Around her shoulders was a red cape, adorned with flowers from head to toe, which was the cape the monarch wore during special events. It was unusual to see her wear such an important article of clothing, as she rarely hosted special events. Upon her raven-haired head, laid the Protector's Crown, which was named so due to the fact that all the royalty had to swear to protect their kingdom with their life.

(Like this but pretend the cape is fully covered in flowers and can be clipped on)

(You can imagine what the crown looks like)

Mother slowly glided to the microphone and looked down at us as she clanged her glass with a fork. Gradually, the chatter died down and she started her speech.

a/n Rest in Peace Queen Elizabeth II :(
