Chapter 22: What happened?

Ryujin's POV

Why isn't she here? Why aren't they coming? It's 7:45!

I wait for Yanae, Wheein and J Hope to arrive impatiently, I have been waiting for 15 minutes so maybe they're not coming.

"Ryujin-ah, I don't think they're coming, let's just go to class, okay?" Arin appeared behind me with a soft smile that made my heart melt.

As sad and disappointed as I was, I got up from the bench I was sitting on and went with Arin to our classroom. Our first subject was math.

"Good morning Ryujin. Good morning Arin." Our professor greeted us with a bright smile as we passed by him.

"Morning Mr. Hwang." We greeted him back as we took our seats.

I took my usual seat at the back of the class where me and Yanae usually sit as Arin sat in front of me with an empty seat beside her.

Gosh where are you Yanae, I thought to myself.

I'm still devastated about the situation and I am worried for Yanae, especially because I knew she was hurt by what I said and to add to that, her closest aunt died.

Poor baby. I just want to give her the biggest hug.

I snapped out of my thoughts when a familiar girl entered the class...

Karina.

"Oh Kari-"

"What do you want?" She sent me a death glare as she responded coldly.

Damn, so that's what Yanae felt like when I talked to her.

"Look, I just wanted to say-" I started off calmly as I stared into the fire and hatred towards me in her eyes.

"Listen, I don't wanna hear any of your apologies, as long as Yanae is hurt, I don't wanna hear it... Now get out of my face."

I scoffed to myself. She turned into a real bitch real fast.

Am I surprised? Not really.

I saw that our professor stepped out of the classroom for a moment which made me a little confused but my confusion quickly vanished as the whole class went silent at the sight of one person.

Jung Yaneli.

She was acting rather... Different.

She had a black cap on her head, which was hanging low, her face wasn't visible but I could tell under that darkness, she had a dead poker face with tear stains.

I wasn't scared of her of course but it seems like everyone else is.

She sat down, surprisingly next to me and as she set her bag down, I couldn't help but to just wrap my arms around her.

"I'm so sorry~~~." I said softly against her shoulder, hoping that she'll forgive me.

When I thought all hope was lost, I felt her hug me back. As she did, I hugged her tighter.

I have my best friend back! I'm literally so happy right now!

"It's okay..." She mumbled quietly but by the tone of her voice I know it's not okay.

"It's not okay, I'm so sorry, I love you. I never meant to say it."

"No, it's okay."

We were so caught up in the moment, we didn't notice the professor enter the class.

"Alright, let's get started!"

Yanae's POV

"Happy birthday dear Wheein~~ Happy birthday to you~~~." Wheein happily blew out her candles as we sung happy birthday.

This year is the first time that Wheein and Ryujin are having separate birthdays since they met and to be honest, I'm pretty sad about it.

"Thank you guys~~~." My sister smiled at all her guests before we heard the doorbell ring.

"I'll get it!" Jimin said as he went over.

Deep inside my heart, I hoped it isn't Ryujin.

Even though I forgave her, she still ignored me a little, which made me still very sad.

Soon enough, I heard 3 pairs of footsteps behind me as I dreaded the feeling of seeing Ryujin again.

"Hey guys!"

But to my surprise, it was my eldest brother, Yunho.

"YUNHO!" everyone cheered at the sight of the tall male in front of us.

"Aye Happy Birthday sis. I brought my girlfriend, her name is Taeyeon. Hope you don't mind." He introduced the pretty, short female next to him.

"Hi." She seemed quite shy.

Cute.

I mean I would be shy too, meeting the family and closest friends, it's nerve-wrecking.

"That's okay. Hi~~~ You're so pretty~~~." Wheein stood up and greeted the girl.

As people started shifting their attention to the late guests and started greeting Taeyeon, I turned my attention to Karina, Giselle and Soojin.

"Yanae-ah" Karina trailed off. "Ryujin's mom just texted me and... She said Ryujin would appreciate it if we showed up for her birthday."

"Ehh okay, will you three go with me?" I questioned as I was too nervous to go alone.

They looked here and there before agreeing.

Everyone bought gifts for Wheein and Ryujin before the whole fight and everything so now that brings us in this situation.

"Eomma, me, Kari, Soojin and Aeri are gonna go to Ryujin's to drop off her gifts. We're gonna be right back though."

"Ahh okay, just do it quickly, I want you to spend time with your sister and also talk with Yunho's girlfriend."

And with that, we left with multiple gifts that not yet were delivered.
