Y/N POV
We walk inside to see Velvet's rather impressive home.
Noir: "I'm gonna speak with Lucky."
Y/N: "Okay. Guess I'll talk with Velvet then."
We part ways as I sit on the couch. Velvet then appears with a tray with glasses.
Velvet: "Tea?"
Y/N: "Thank you."
I grab a glass as she takes a seat.
Y/N: "You've got a really nice house."
Velvet: "Thanks. My wife helped pick it out."
Y/N: "What's her name?"
Velvet: "Coco."
Y/N: "How long you two known each other?"
Velvet: "Since Beacon. We met in our first year. But we didn't start dating until mid way through our second year. What about you, you got a lucky someone?"
Y/N: "Oh yeah. She's an amazing woman that gave me a wonderful daughter."
Velvet: "So does that mean Noir's your daughter?"
Y/N: "Yep."
I change topics.
Y/N: "So, where is miss Coco?"
Velvet: "She's out on work."
Y/N: "What is it she does?"
Velvet: "She took up the Huntress line of work. Only problem is that it means she's away for months at a time."
Y/N: "You don't join her?"
She looks into her tea.
Velvet: "A year after we graduated we were out on a mission. I got hurt so bad I was hospitalized for over a month. In that time Coco got depressed and blamed herself for my situation. I tried to reassure that it wasn't but she said a leader must always take responsibility for what happens to their teammates. When I recovered they said I would never return the Huntress life. So nowadays I stay home raising Lucky and waiting for Coco to come home."
Her demeanor becomes really sad.
Velvet: "It really sucks. Sitting here while my wife continuously puts her life on the line for us. I can't help but feel useless."
I set my tea down and place my hand on her shoulder. She looks at me.
Y/N: "You're not useless. You're raising the future of the world. That's no small task. Yet here you are with a genius of a son. And what's better is that he's one of the best people backing up my daughter. That just proves you're doing a perfect job."
Tears run down her cheeks. They're not of sadness, but of happiness. She wraps me in a hug.
Velvet: "Thank you. That means more than you can ever imagine to hear."
I return her hug.
Y/N: "You're welcome."
Noir POV
I knock on the last door on the left. Cluttering is heard as Lucky answers the door.
Lucky: "Hey Noir. Whatcha doing here?"
Noir: "I require some assistance."
I pull the scroll out handing it to him.
Noir: "This scroll's protected by a password."
He grabs it looking it over.
Lucky: "What's so special about it?"
Noir: "It was found at the Bio Life building. I think it might belong to one of the robbers."
He smiles.
Lucky: "I'll see what I can do. Come in."
I enter his room to see it surprisingly clean.
Lucky: "Something wrong?"
Noir: "It's just... I expected your room to be cluttered with all kinds of gadgets or equipment."
Lucky: "All I need is my faithful computer."
He sits down near it putting the scroll into a platform. He then begins typing on the keyboard.
Lucky: "I must admit. There's a lot of security for a criminal. Whoever had this scroll must really not want anyone going through it."
Noir: "So you can't break into it?"
Lucky: "Of course I can. I won't ever let anything stop me."
Noir: "You're the best Lucky."
Lucky: "Before I forget. I found something out about that saliva sample."
Noir: "What?"
Lucky: "Turns out that person underwent some heavy genetic editing. It's honestly a miracle he's alive."
Noir: "Genetic tampering? I thought it was a myth."
Lucky: "So did I."
Noir: "Thanks Lucky. I really owe you one."
Lucky: "No problem. Happy to help a friend."
I head back to dad to see him and Velvet parting from a hug. We then make our way back home.
