Y/N POV
It's been about a week since I took Mark and Susan in. While Mark has scoured all over Vale for work no one was willing to hire him. It mostly was because of his ex con status. But thankfully I managed to snag him an opportunity. We're currently make our way there.
Mark: "I'm really nervous."
Y/N: "It'll be okay. I know this person really well. You've as good as got the job."
Mark: "I can only hope you're right."
We reach our destination and head to my contact.
Glynda: "Y/N, and who's this?"
Y/N: "Mom, this' my friend Mark. He's here to apply for the job opening you've got."
She smiles.
Glynda: "Wonderful. Take a seat and we'll get started with the interview."
He takes a seat as I lean on the wall.
Glynda: "First question, have you ever had a teaching job before?"
Mark: "No mam."
Glynda: "Okay. Second question, what experience do you offer?"
Mark: "Well, I possess great strength. I also have a decent amount of combat experience."
Glynda: "That's good."
They go back and forth with questions and answers. A half hour later mom stares at Mark.
Glynda: "While you don't bring much teaching experience to the table,"
He becomes nervous.
Glynda: "I'm in desperate need of a new combat teacher. And from various sources,"
She discreetly looks at me.
Glynda: "I've heard you know how to hold your own. Therefor I believe you'll be the perfect fit for this role."
He bows.
Mark: "I deeply thank you for giving me this job."
Glynda: "No worries."
Y/N: "There's also something else. He's got a little girl."
Glynda: "How old is she?"
Mark: "Four if I had to guess."
Glynda: "Well we just opened a introductory school section for the young kids of some of the older students. We offer various activities that'll teach her lessons from teamwork to self sustaining life skills. She can go there while you work. Then when she gets older she can automatically enroll in Beacon."
Mark: "That sounds nice. I think that'd be perfect."
Glynda: "Good. I'll start the proper paperwork now. When it's done I'll give you a call."
Mark: "Thank you Miss Goodwitch."
Glynda: "Please, call me Glynda."
He nods as we head back to my home. Later that day Blake and I escort Noir to the ballroom. Upon entering we see everyone dancing.
Tria: "Noir, over here!"
She walks to her friends.
Blake: "Feels weird doesn't it?"
Y/N: "What?"
Blake: "Being here. The place where we became a couple."
Y/N: "Oh, yeah. Just shows how fast time flies by."
Blake: "No kidding."
A song begins playing. I smile holding out my hand.
Y/N: "Care to dance malady?"
She giggles.
Blake: "Yes."
We walk to the dancefloor.
Blake: "So, how're you?"
Y/N: "Good. You?"
Blake: "Fine."
I spin her around.
Blake: "Y/N."
Y/N: "Yeah?"
Blake: "Do you ever regret giving up the hero life?"
I stare at her.
Y/N: "Whaddaya mean?"
Blake: "I mean do you miss it?"
Y/N: "Where's this coming from?"
Blake: "It's just..."
She sighs.
Blake: "I see Noir smiling every time she comes home from heroing. Seeing that made me think of when you were that happy. Don't get me wrong, I know you're happy. But it's just... I wonder if you've ever felt that level of happiness since you were superheroing."
I remain silent for a moment.
Y/N: "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't happy when I was kicking butt. There're times where I think if I should ever put the mask back on. But then I'd remember that I've got a family now. If I were to die heroing then I'd leave you guys to fend for yourselves. Marrying you and having Noir made me realize something."
She looks me in the eyes.
Y/N: "Back then I was a kid wanting to prove I had what it took to do good. But now I'm older and wiser. I've realized that there's more to being a hero than just saving people. The world will always need someone to save it. But you guys, you guys don't need a hero. You need a husband and a father."
I hug her tightly.
Y/N: "I gave up the hero life to be with you guys. Seeing you guys so happy and carefree, that's when I'm at my happiest."
She returns my hug.
Blake: "That's all I wanted to hear."
