"THERE'S REALLY NOT a lot to show, but I figured I might as well show you a few things on the way to your new room. Your case is an... interesting one, and we weren't quite sure what to do with you originally."
Dr. Paige had returned to the white room and completely un-cuffed Valerie from the white chair she'd been sitting on. Now that Valerie could completely look around the room she was in, she realized that she truly wasn't missing much, only being able to see one side of it. Her back had been to a plain white wall the entire time; her green shirt and dark pants were the only thing creating a noticeable contrast in the room. The only noteworthy piece of information lay in the numbered placard on the door, labeling the room as "9". She wasn't sure if she'd ever feel the need to return to the room where she had been drugged and imprisoned, but she committed the number to memory regardless.
Valerie wasn't sure what she expected to see outside of the white room, but strangely, she hadn't been anticipating even more white in the form of a long hallway, stretching past the room in both directions; its floors, ceiling, and walls were that same blinding white color. The only break in the pattern was what looked to be a window with dark, tinted glass farther down the hallway to their left. Looking to the right, Valerie saw a heavily secure area — there was a large security checkpoint before the hallway presumably turned the corner — and couldn't help but wonder what could be in there that needed to be so massively guarded.
Before she could ponder the thought any longer, though, the sound of Dr. Paige's heels walking down the hallway in the other direction forced her to follow her tour guide.
"Right here is the main lab. Only employees are allowed to enter." Dr. Paige didn't explain what they were doing in the lab, and the tinted windows made it impossible to make out more than a few silhouettes that were close to the glass. She gestured to the door and its keycard slot as she spoke, almost as a hint to Valerie that she wouldn't be able to break into the space if she tried, seeing as she had no fancy identification card like she did.
