Half of the album was recorded by now, and I slipped the headphones off of my head and around my neck. I rubbed at my temples, looking down at the lyrics in front of me. Three potential songs for the next single had been picked out. Bite, Ease, and Youth.

Before I could relieve the ache the headphones had started leaving on my head, I heard Alex speaking through them. I slipped them back on, looking up at him through the window of the recording booth.

"We're going to run through the first verse of Teeth with you, alright Maddy?" He said, Alyssa spinning Willow in the chair beside him as Daya tried working on assignments she had been missing. "Then we're gonna switch you with Daya for the pre-chorus, and then have Alyssa come in for the chorus. That sound good?"

I nodded my head, grabbing my water bottle from the stand beside me. I wasn't exactly sure how much more my vocal cords could take, but I let the excitement of completing the album outweigh all the stressful parts. I set the water down after taking a couple sips, listening to the music start as I focused down on the lyrics in front of me.

"Some days, you're the only thing I know, only thing that's burning when the nights grow cold..." I tapped the tune out quietly against the stand in front of me, still struggling with sounding nervous when I started songs. I was working on it, I really was. "Can't look away, can't look away, beg you to stay, beg you to stay..."

Out of the corner of my eye I could see the door opening behind the window and Alex turning away from the soundboard. It made me slightly nervous, hoping I wasn't messing up too badly. "Sometimes, you're a stranger in my bed, don't know if you love me or you want me dead..."

Someone else took a seat beside Alex, and my heart started pounding so hard it made me worry that the microphone could pick it up. Which was so stupid of me. We had just passed fifty thousand streams on our first single, plenty of people had heard my voice by now. "Push me away, push me away, then beg me to stay, beg me to stay..."

The music stopped once I finished the verse, and I looked up to see who had joined Alex. My breath caught in my throat and I almost choked, my eyes going wide as I met her eyes.

Staring back at me with a small smile on her face, was Adore Delano.

I blinked a couple times, but she was still there. And this was insane. I had been listening to her for years, we had covered multiple of her songs before. And now she was watching and listening to me.

Alex laughed a bit when he saw my expression. "Come on out, Maddy. Let's switch you with Daya and have you meet someone."

I was suddenly very self conscious, especially about the fact that I had my blanket in my lap. I shakily opened up the door and stepped out of the booth, both Daya and Alyssa looking at me with the same shocked expression.

Alex stood up, placing a hand on my shoulder and nudging me the rest of the way over. "Maddy, this is Adore. Adore, this is Maddy. She's the lead on their new single."

I stared up at her, struggling to find my voice. "...Hi-" I somehow managed to squeak out.

Adore laughed a little, eyeing me up and down, which was really making me self conscious. "Hi Maddy. You sounded great."

I felt like my brain was short circuiting. "Th-Thank you-" I looked away from her, finding it way too hard to meet her eyes. "That means a lot..."

"She's a little shy." Alex explained. "Sometimes she hardly talks to Liza in full sentences. But she's good. Daya, you're up next in the booth."
