CHAPTER ONE:
House of Meetings
└─── ஓ๑♡๑ஓ ───┘

Lyla Harris dreaded class in the morning; it was the bane of her existence, so whenever the girl was in the mood she made sure to take extra long getting ready for the day. Today just happened to be one of those days.

Hearing everyone leave Anubis House, Lyla knew she had ten minutes until the first bell, and another five minutes till class actually started, so if she left in twelve minutes she would walk into French Class exactly as the bell goes off. See, the troublemaker loved to break the rules without actually breaking them; she thought it made everything so much more fun.

Smiling to herself, the girl grabbed her things from her shared room with Patricia and Joy, and headed to the bathroom. She plugged her earphones into her iPod Touch, shuffling her music; Fluorescent Adolescence by Arctic Monkeys came on.

She got dressed, taking her sweet time before moving on to her makeup, making sure to stop and have a dance party a few times, you know, to waste more time. As she finished up and put all her things in her bag, she saw that she made perfect time as she had one minute to be out the door.

Quietly, the girl tiptoed out of the bathroom carrying her shoes to make sure Victor wouldn't hear her, and walked down the stairs. Then she quickly ran for the door; as she opened it she ran straight into an unfamiliar girl trailing a suitcase.

"Oh, wow, I am so sorry! What has gotten into me today?" The new girl said, in an American accent. Lyla gave her a strange look, before coming to her senses.

"Uh, you're fine, I've got to go." She said, before squeezing past the American and running off in the direction of the school, hopping a few times to cram her shoes on as she went.

"Weird." Lyla muttered to herself.

"She's not gonna make it." Jerome said.

"She always makes it." Alfie responded, his eyes locked on the open doorway, from his seat at the back of the class.

"I'm telling you she's not-" Jerome started, but was cut off as Alfie jumped out of his seat, knocking his chair over in the process.

Just as Lyla predicted she stepped into the classroom right as the bell rang, "Yes, I told you!" Alfie shouted, she gave the boy an over-exaggerated wink, not missing the eye roll she got from Jerome.
