The next morning, Lyla was not in a good mood, her dream or rather, nightmare had really freaked her out, and frankly it didn't make much sense. Lyla was never one to think dreams meant anything; however, it was like her subconscious knew something that she didn't, or something was trying to contact her, Lyla shook her head at that thought, as she walked into the dining room.Seeing Patricia in her seat by the window, talking to Alfie and Jerome, she rolled her eyes, not in the mood to fight with her, so she sat in Amber's seat, knowing the girl wouldn't mind. She didn't say a word to anyone as she sat there, nibbling on her toast and staring at her plate, drowning out the conversation her roommate was having with the two pranksters.
She only perked up her ears and looked up when she heard a loud, shush followed by, "Sleep well, Nina?" Patricia asked as Nina walked into the room. "Caw!" She yelled, and Alfie and Jerome joined in, "Caw! Caw!" The three shared a laugh.
"Ignore them." Fabian whispered over to the girl. "I am." She responded.
"So, what was this dream anyway?" The boy asked, paying no mind that Lyla was listening to them.
"It was awful, I know they're making jokes but... It felt so real. It felt... evil." Nina told him, Lyla rose her eyebrows, still freaking out about her dream, and now Nina's dream was freaking her out.
"Anyone seen Mara?" Amber called out as she walked into the room, "She's got my hair straightener."
"Yeah, she's with Mick in our room." Fabian said, Lyla rolled her eyes at that.
"What!" Amber cried.
Jerome giggled, "Uh oh, green-eyed monster alert." He said, to which Lyla had to fight the urge to slap him upside the head.
"I'm not jealous." Amber denied, taking a seat beside Lyla. "Why would I be jealous? What's there to be jealous of?"
"She's helping him with homework, that's all." Fabian tried to ease her worries.
"Yeah, I know all about that, and it's cool." She told them, giving a glance at the non-talking Lyla, "I would help him, but I'm just... so busy." She flipped her hair behind her, to which Jerome mocked, earning laughs from Patricia and Alfie.
The boy looked towards Lyla, strangely wanting to see her reaction; expecting a laugh or an eye roll, but he found that she didn't even spare him a glance as her eyes were fixed on her plate as she pulled apart her toast. He frowned at the sight, but decided not to say anything and went back to eating.
