You can sing, you can dance, and you can rap. All in all you're a performer.
Except you aren't. Even though you want to be.
You want nothing more than to make music, sell out shows, and perform for people.
But the doors haven't opened for you...
"Okay no, I'm not feelin that. Move it there please?"
With an exerted grunt from the two men clad in work overalls, they lift the wooden backdrop wall and move it to the other side of the yard. Standing a few feet away, I place my hands on my hips and tilt my head observantly.
"Ight that's perfect," I give a thumbs up and smile," everything else can go where we talked about putting it. Ima go grab y'all some waters."
The workers nod and get back to work setting up the party in the backyard of our house while I jog up the back steps and go into the kitchen.
All the decorations had been handpicked by both me and Ariana: gold, green, and white balloons, animal print balloons, stuffed animals of varying sizes, two different backgrounds for pictures, banners with the twins' names on them, and all the other common party supplies.
With it being the day before the twin's first birthday, we've been in work mode to get everything set up. We want our children to have an amazing first birthday, we want to set the tone for what the rest of their lives would be like. The twins would be showered in love and praise on their birthday and other milestones and it starts tomorrow.
I grab the waters and take them outside to the guys, thanking them again before I leave them to finish setting up.
Back inside the house, I go into the dining room and finish putting together the smaller decorations. We have labels for the food and cute toppers for the cupcakes when they get here, plus the animal print table cloths and plates.
As I'm working I hear the front door open and close. Knowing it can only be one person, I call over my shoulder," hey baby."
"Hi," my wife huffs and I frown, turning to see her carrying two large white boxes in her hands.
Rushing over, I take the boxes from her and turn to head to the kitchen, her following." Why didn't you tell me you were pulling up, I could've come grabbed these."
"I would've but I figured you'd be out back with the workers." She runs a hand through her straight hair, leaning to look out the back door." Looks like it's coming together perfectly."
With a smile, I nod." Yeah, lookin exactly how I envisioned it." I lift the top of one of the boxes to inspect the cupcakes." This is 100 right? 50 each box?" She nods in confirmation and I pull my phone out, checking that off the list." So now all we need is to prep the last of the food."
"Okay, I can handle that." She says and I nod. We share a quick kiss before I leave the kitchen.
The twins are at Vic's house for the day and we use the whole day to set the party up. We break every once in a while, to just chill or eat. By the time we're done, the workers having been paid and tipped, the sun has gone down and we're dog tired so we head straight to bed.
In the morning we wake up and have breakfast together. I check to make sure the weather is still going to be good and it is, so we go put out all the signs and labels. I take a step back to look at everything before nodding in approval.
