I'm always surprised at how much you love this story, I mean, it's good but I've improved my English skills a lot and I have other werewolf stories that are better written or, at least, they have less grammar mistakes (they drive me crazy when I reread and will fix them in the future, I promise, I won't change the plot or anything) Anyway, thank you for reading, voting, commenting and supporting me.
"You have to sign here and here..." Lisette Shallou, my assistant in the city hall, points at two documents on my desk and I obey not bothering to read the text; she's still young but has been working with me for four years and has learnt all the tricks of the trade quickly, easing my workload. She's the most organized person I know and never forgets to write down my appointments.
"Did the seeds for the spring crops arrived in time?" I ask worried and the pretty girl with curly hair and chocolate skin winks at me and nods.
"They arrived this morning and farmers are already collecting them at the warehouse. Julia Nicki is back home too with the supplies for the spring fair, she brought all the ribs and burgers you wanted for the barbecue and some other stuff that the city merchants had ordered."
"How did it go? This is the first time the girl goes to the outside world driving his father's truck alone."
"Everything went well, Julia has been helping to run the family business for years and our suppliers know her and trust her, it was bad luck that her father broke his arm playing soccer with his friends during the busiest month of the year..."
"The old grump..." I laugh amused. "He told me once that felt disappointed when Julia was born because she was not a boy, but now he's the proudest father... Who says ladies can't drive a big truck?" Lisette smiles and nods while checking she has all the documents she needed.
"I think that's it for this morning, boss. I have to go now, it's getting late..."
"Where are you going?" I ask confused taking a look at the clock on the wall and realize it's almost lunch time, time flies when I'm busy working.
"To my sister's store, I'm going to meet Jade Eliza for lunch there, your wife and some other friends are coming too." I frown, puzzled, because Iselen didn't tell me a word about this meeting while we had breakfast. "New clothes have arrived to In Pastel Shades and new fancy underwear to La Belle Parisienne and both owners are going to show us what's trendy for this season before they display them in the spring windows of the stores."
"Oh my God," I roll my eyes hard and lean back on my chair. "Tell my wife not to buy too much stuff, please, her birthday is next month and she knows she's going to get tons of gifts..."
"Not this year," Lisette cuts me off standing at the door. "She told us not to buy anything, she's talked to the bank manager and opened an account where every citizen can deposit the money they expected to spend in her gift. Luna has found out that the firefighters need a new truck and has launched this crowdfunding initiative to help you to buy one."
"I'm madly in love with that woman," I admit smiling and my assistant nods.
"We all adore her, Alpha Ruby Rose... I see you later."
Lisette closes the door and I get up, getting closer to the window while stretching my arms above my head and yawning looking at the park. I should order some takeout, a sandwich or pizza, maybe, or I could go out for a walk and drop by at the police station to have lunch with Mark so he can tell me the news about the hunters he arrested. It's been a week since those idiots shot my mate and they're facing prison sentences and heavy fines. I need to make sure that no other human feels tempted to sneak in my valley carrying rifles again.
