I've been feeling like shit for the past two days so please, excuse me if you find that this chapter isn't as good as usual. Also, if you find grammatical errors or spelling mistakes let me know because I haven't gone through it several times as usual. And sorry for making you wait for this update, I've made it extra long to make it up to you

"She's fed us, our mate has fed us with her own hands... she's incredible Ruby, isn't she? She cares about us... and her skin is so soft, her laugh sounds so good, she wants to play with us in the park... and she prefers us to the cats now. This is great."

"Come on Rose, calm down. You've been ecstatic since last Saturday and you seem unable to change the topic of the conversation." I roll my eyes while I leave the building and start walking through the park in front of the city hall, I'm carrying in a bag the biggest and most obscene box of chocolates I've found.

"I know, I know... but she's..." My wolf sighs and lies down like she's a lovesick puppy... and that's what she's actually.

"I know, Rose: she's everything... and that's why you purred while she was petting you..."

"I was growling!" She yells outraged. I chuckle without answering.

I couldn't find the rogue but the forest was filled with traces of his presence: paw prints, a grey lock of fur in a bramble and of course the scent of a wolf that has been sleeping outside for a long time without taking a bath. He ran away when he realized that we were chasing him and I lost track on the nature reserve border because I didn't want to pursue him any further, I don't like getting too far away from Wolfdale in case they need me urgently. It doesn't matter anyway, if he has come here in search of asylum he'll come back soon and if he got scared he'll be running away to another location. Mark's boys will be monitoring the woods in the meantime; that's why I went to the tattoo studio looking for him, to talk about the news and draw up a plan, but he was already gone. Unfortunately, it means that it's been two days since I don't see my mate: I've spent my Sunday doing some paperwork and scheduling surveillance shifts while Iselen has been helping to organize the children's games and contests for the fair.

But it's over, work will have to wait because I cannot spend one more minute without seeing my girl. I'm not with her, technically, since last Thursday because Rose was the one who enjoyed her time with her last Saturday. It's true that we're the same person but when I'm in my wolf form my brain works differently, I'm less rational and trust my instincts, my senses are heightened and even if I'm still there it's Rose the one who controls our body: she sees, smells and hears our mate differently. My human form misses her and is looking forward to talk to her and kiss her, not licking her face... however, feeling her sweet skin under my lupine tongue wasn't that bad.

"She's so delicious that I could eat her," I hear in my mind while my wolf licks her muzzle.

"Rose, you don't eat humans..."

"You're not a cannibal either but you're going to eat her out, Hottie Mayor."

"Rose!" I yell horrified while I blush furiously. "Can you behave like a lady for a change?" My wolf remains silent and just chuckles in my head. I roll my eyes hard and keep walking down the Red Maple Street till I reach the tattoo studio. "You shouldn't take into account what Iselen said about me the other day, when she was talking to you she wasn't aware that I could hear her. It doesn't feel right, it's... an invasion of her privacy." I scold her while I open the door and nod at Grey to say hello, he's tattooing a customer on one chair.

"Oh please, don't act so innocent. You do remember that I can feel you inside my wolf's mind, don't you? I know you were delighted when she called you 'hottie major.' I'm pretty sure your cheeks still hurt after smiling smugly all day long."
