"Fuck! Shit! We're screwed.... Fuck!"

"Calm down, Ruby!"

"Calm down? We're in real trouble this time, in case you hadn't noticed, Rose." I answer abruptly while letting my bag drop to the floor and then I sit down on the bed running my fingers through my hair before pulling it in despair. My wolf sighs in my mind lowering her furry head... she knows that I'm right. "What are we going to do?" I ask to no one in particular.

It's Friday evening and the fair will be officially opened in two hours. I have to take a shower, get dressed, give a speech and give away the medals to the winners of the children's competitions... the competitions that my mate has helped to organize and the winners that she's photographed while I was in Washington fighting with those stupid politicians. I haven't seen her since last Tuesday evening when I had to leave the city in a hurry, driving half of the night to the closer airport. Then I spent two days discussing why chopping down half of the trees of my nature reserve in order to build a luxury resort is a bad idea. Finally, I was tired of trying to reason with ambitious businessmen and corrupt politicians so I made a couple of phone calls to my allies, I dropped a hint here and there, I sold some shares on the stock exchange discretely... and the hotel company stock plummeted, they've lost millions and can't threat my forest anymore. I hate using these methods but know I know for sure that they lost their desire for investments in Wolfdale.

I texted Iselen three times during that period: one to explain where I was going and why, another one to tell her that I was doing fine and everything would work out finally and the last one to tell her that I was on my way back home in time for the fair grand opening. That's all. I couldn't talk to her, I haven't been able to explain her who I am and what Rose is calmly. Fuck! You can't explain that on a phone call: "Weather in Washington is good. Oh by the way, I'm a werewolf and you're my mate *smiley. " That's ridiculous, for god's sake!

"Rose, what are we going to do? In just a few hours someone's going to drink too much, lose control and turn into a wolf before her eyes scaring the hell out of her. What if she runs away? What if she leaves us?"

"Ruby, calm down. First of all, she doesn't have her car back yet so she can't get far. And secondly you still have a few hours as a grace period. You can open the fair, give your speech, greet the city neighbours and then look for a quiet place to explain her about us before the dance starts and everybody gets crazy. Don't be nervous, okay? Everything will be all right: she's our mate, we were meant to be together... you told me that. She'll understand, you'll see."

"I hope you're right, Rose. If she rejects us I don't know what we're going to do," I whisper feeling a sharp pain in my heart just thinking about it.

"Everything is going to be okay, I'm pretty sure of it." My wolf lifts her muzzle striking her best diva pose and making me smile before I get up and walk wearily to the bathroom. I better start to get ready if I don't want to be late, first the shower and then I have to pick out some clothes: something plain and simple, black pants and white shirt, comfortable sneakers... I don't have time to think of something fancier and I'm not in the mood for wearing colourful clothes today.

"Iselen!" I run through the grass at full speed till I get next to her and I hug her tight burying my face in her neck. My mate puts her arm around my shoulders quickly to avoid falling back due to the impact with my body while she grabs her camera with her other hand firmly.

"Hello Ruby, what...?" my lips on her cheek stop her question, my girl blushes and looks around but people are arriving to the fair and are too excited with the festive banners, the smell of the food stalls and the lights of the rides to pay attention to us.
