BONUS CHAPTER 4 (ISELEN POV)

"Babe, you've gone a little too far with this... Everybody is looking at me..."

"Now you know how it feels," I answer amused while Ruby rolls her eyes hard before greeting another wolf on the city hall stairs. The doorman in our building, the police officer watching the traffic, the gardener who was planting spring flowers in the park and now her workmates... Everybody is staring at their alpha's neck, surprised, before holding back a smile.

"You didn't have to bite me that hard," my wife growls.

"You didn't have to bite me that hard either and yet, we both have the equivalent to a wolfish neon sign on our necks that says we belong to each other. Bianca is happy and proud, she thinks she's done very well."

"Rose agrees with her," Ruby admits, sighing defeated and pointing at her neck. "I guess they'll stop looking at me like dumb soon, when this is no news anymore. Are you nervous?"

"A little but I also want answers," I say and she nods, taking my hand while walking down the corridor towards her office. Lisette Shallou, her assistant, comes from a side door carrying some cardboard boxes full of invoices to file and she stops abruptly, blinking surprised, before smiling.

"Stop it, please, it's not funny..." her boss growls again and Lisette's grin grows wider, winking at me.

"Good job, Luna. Your 9:00 appointment is here, I was busy with these invoices about the fair supplies and was unable to welcome the wolf but one of the boys who works in the administration office has walked him to your own office. He's waiting there for you."

"Okay, thank you, let's go," I nod and follow my wife, feeling my stomach a little upset due to my anxiety but I try to take a deep breath to calm down. I know Ruby can sense it through Rosie and don't want her to get distracted by this, I want to see her focusing on Dusan Ruud in case something goes wrong. I still think the man is keeping something important from us that involves my wife and I want her to have a clear mind to deal with whatever it is. I don't care about the fact that he's probably my father, Ruby's safety is my priority.

"Good morning, Alpha Ruby Rose... and Luna Iselen Bianca." The werewolf looks confused while getting up from his chair, I don't know if it's because I'm here or because he wasn't expecting to be summoned to Wolfdale mayor's office, but other than that, he looks calmed.

"Sit down, Dusan Ruud, please." My wife walks around her desk to sit down on her chair and I sit down on a corner of the table next to her, as has happened so often in other meetings. Ruby points at a comfortable chair near the window, as usual, and I shake my head, as usual too: she knows I like this spot, I feel more confident knowing that I'm in a higher position than my interlocutor and I can control the entire room somehow. "We have to talk about something important with you but, to be honest, I don't know where to start."

"Where were you 21 years ago?" I ask directly and the wolf winks perplexed, it's pretty obvious this is the last question he was expecting.

"Well, eh... I'm not sure, to be honest. I've been traveling around..." Dusan stutters, staring at Ruby bewildered but she leans back on her chair and remains silent, letting me take control of the conversation.

"I think I can refresh your memory: you were getting a 17-year-old girl pregnant..." I answer bitterly and the werewolf looks at me with his mouth wide open.

"What? Of course not, what are you talking about?" he cries outraged and I stare at my wife who shrugs before leaning forward, putting her arms on the table.

"Do you know a woman who's name is Rossi, with dark brown hair and pale skin, who looks exactly like her except for the eye colour?" Ruby asks slowly, tilting her head to point at me. "Remember... it was 21 years ago, you stayed a few weeks in a small village and flirted with a young and pretty girl..." Dusan frowns, staring at us utterly confused.
