Noah

I couldn't say I knew how to handle a situation like that, I grew up with two sober parents who never dared to touch any sorts of drugs or alcohol.

I had parents to ask for money and care. I never had to worry about where the rent money would come from.

I didn't-couldn't understand how she lived.

I laid awake in bed.

Ayla

Hey, wanna come over tomorrow night

I asked her, seeing the text remain on delivered.

-

The next day I walked into math, hoping to see Ayla. I sat down, looking around, until she walked in with a hood over her head.

"Ayla, hey." I beamed.

She hummed something close to a response I couldn't decipher. I reached for her hand and that's when she shifted away and her hood fell to the side.

Showing the large black and blue mark on her cheek.

"Ayla who did that t-"

"No one." She snapped back.

"It was him-"

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Ayla tell me what happened."

"Please.. just stop." She begged, a crack in her voice. I stared forward, staring at the board.

"Let me help you." I whispered.

"I don't need help." She lashed.

For the rest of class I stared at her saddened features, slouched on the chair with no life.

I forced myself to go on the rest of the day without her, without her smiles, and words and sassy remarks.

God I miss her.

I sat in the caf alone, as I usually do. staring at Ayla's empty seat.

I noticed her friend.. what was her name.. Sara? Summer.

"Summer?" I sat up and called. She turned her head while nodding. I noticed her boyfriend beside her, holding her waist.

"Who's this?" He asked.

"Ayla's man, what do you want?"

I leaned on the table and crossed my arms.

"You know where Ayla is?"

"She wasn't feeling well, she went home." I cocked my head at her, trying to see true feelings.

"Look.. Nathan-"

"Noah."

"Noah, Ayla is a very.. secure person. There'll be things she won't tell you.. okay?" He nodded her head.
