Chapter 10- The Battle of Starcourt

The circle had since migrated over to the water fountain leaving both Max and Willow to huddle together contempt with simply being in each other's presence after such a long time apart.

"So this big fleshy spider thing that hurt El, it's some kind of gigantic weapon built with the melted remains of people... Did I get that right?" Steve ask still unsure because of how crazy the situation was, receiving some shallow nods.

"It's not dead yet though. If we close the gate-" Max starts "We cut the brain off from the body and kill it." Will finishes while everyone looks at each other with a foreboding atmosphere.

The adults crowd around sketches of the maze that they had just escaped as they discuss methods to get in and out safely while also destroying the gate.

Erica is the one to speak up first "Listen, Mr Bunman, I'm not trying to tell you how to do things, but we just came back from being down in that shithole for 24 hours. And with all due respect, you do what this man tells you, and you're all gonna die." Erica points towards each one of them as Willow proudly smiles at her from the sidelines.

Max gently tugs Willow away from the rest of the group to break the harsh news of Billy to her. Willow looks down at her curiously, lightly smiling until she reads Max's expression.

"Lo, something happened to Billy, He's not himself anymore. I- We think the mind flayer has him." "The what?" "Last year-" "What?! This has happened before and you didn't come to me?" Willow looks at the young girl with disbelief.

"Yeah... I didn't tell you because I knew you would react like this, it doesn't matter right now. What does is that Billy is stuck and being forced to do things against his will and we need to help him get out, they did it with Will we just need to figure it out with Billy." Willow needs a second to sit down her life being turned completely upside down in the last few days.

"How do we do that?" That is how she found herself following Steve and Robin to a suspiciously fancy car so that they could help the other group make their way into the Russian underground system.

Hugging Max goodbye knowing they'd take her somewhere safe she gave her a last squeeze before running to sit in the passenger seat of the 'Toddfather' as they sped away following Dustin's directions.

They eventually make their way up a random hilltop which holds Dustin's Cerebro, getting stuck halfway up. Hearing a faint "Scoops Troop?" emanating from the speaker as Willow sprints the rest of the way answering "Max?"

"Lo! We are trapped in the mall, Billy has found us and is waiting outside and our car broke!" Willow doesn't hesitate a second before she is running back down and grabbing Steve and Robin to hop into the car after her.

"Erica take care of Dustin! And Dustin take care of the radio. Stay here until we come back!" Willow shouts over her shoulder as she makes her way towards the driver's side.

Willow starts the key as she quickly drives back down, ignoring the tires squealing for help. Only keeping her mind on the thought of protecting her younger sister as she speeds back to the mall ignoring the other two's protest for her to slow down.

Skidding the corner around the parking lot she spots Billy's car making its way towards Nancy wheeler and the rest of the children. Steve only now shouting for her to go faster, not holding herself back anymore she dramatically hits the side of his car causing the both of them to skid to a stop.

Willow pants with relief, checking on her passengers before jumping out of the car to check on her sister. "Now that, was hot," Steve remarks as he shares a glance with Robin who is watching the girl run off in awe.
