Chapter 16- The Dive

The group once more makes it to Eddie's hiding spot, this time carrying bad news again yet their attention is diverted once they make out the crowd surrounding police tape.

Rushing out of the car they run to the line listening to the commotion surrounding the crowd. "They found the body of another high school student." Whispers mutter to each other as the sound carries over to them.

"Dustin, can you hear me? Wheeler?" Eddie's voice speaks up from the radio is Dustin's backpack as he fumbles around to extend the antenna and respond "Eddie. Holy shit. Are you ok?" The group tries to stay quiet.

"Nah, man. Pretty goddamn far from okay... I- I'm at skull rock." Willow and Steve nod towards each other as Steve announces that they know it, taking the lead around the lake towards the well known make out spot.

The pathway a bit too familiar to Steve and Willow, even though Dustin kept arguing they were going the wrong way. Willow recognised the passing trees along with the familiar horizon, usually the end of this journey would have resulted in a half assed make out session with some boy Willow tried to preoccupy herself with.

Plenty of guys had taken Willow there before, each one claiming it was their special spot that no one else knew about to which Willow would simply nod her head to and wait for it to be over.

Looking back on it now, it was all so stupid, she had been searching for something that had been right in front of her the whole time. Willow shifts her attention to Robin who is glaring at the ground trying not to trip which causes her to chuckle and turn back around.

They continue to walk in silence along with Dustin and Steve's usual bickering until Robin started to speak "I'm sorry I wasn't there for you." The peculiar words coming from behind cause Willow to come to a complete stop and spin around once more, this time with more vigour. "What?!"

"After he died... It's just that Vecna is targeting people that have something that is haunting them. I thought you needed space after it all happened so quickly, room to think. "

"thinking just made it worse honestly I guess I finally realised how shitty everything was, I'm not blaming you I just would have enjoyed you being around more, rather than always staring at me." Willow smiles light heartedly before continuing.

"Although, I've not been the easiest either, always pushing you away. I thought it would hurt less to keep you out..." Willow looks towards Robin's face noticing how her lips turn downwards as she's thinking back.

"I'm know I'm not exactly the best with words, once they start coming out I just can't seem to stop them so I though silence was better than completely messing things up, but I'm always here for you. I'm so sorry Willow, I was just scared of loosing you even more."

"Don't be ridiculous Robin, I'm not going anywhere.... I'm also sorry." Willow brushes her hand against the taller girls hand causing Robin to finally look towards her, to which she only smiles at as she slowly entwines their hands and continues walking.

Robin looks forward a grin plastered onto her face as they continue their hike towards their destination, the smaller girls leading the taller.

The huge rock comes into focus once they break through a dense bush the pair breaking apart, Robin missing the feeling of her hand. Steve taking the time to argue with Dustin once again about some compass bringing the girls back to reality.

Eddie drops down from a neighbouring rock, Dustin running over to the older boy and giving him an embrace as Steve awkwardly watches.

Once they have situated themselves in a circle Eddie starts to tell them about Vecna's next attack on Patrick. Willow had never even noticed anything off with the boy.
