Rose Vila Wheeler

Forest Hills. Here I am. Standing directly in front of his door. I hope his uncle isn't home or anything, because that'd be uncomfortable and weird. Really uncomfortable and weird.

I take a deep breath and knock on the door. No turning back now. Or I could just pretend I was a ding dong ditcher.

No I definitely can't do that, it'd take forever to start my car and drive away. He's recognize that it was me. Maybe I could just-

"Rose." The door swung open and there standing in front of me was Eddie.

"Eddie." I feel like saying his name is a better introduction rather than hello.

That's too formal. But then again we're not friends, and this is a deal. So shit maybe I should have said hello instead.

"Come in." He steps to the side and I walk inside.
"Didn't think you'd actually show, I hope you don't mind but I'm also doing another deal." He shuts the door and then I get a clear view of Chrissy Cunningham.

"Chrissy?"
"Hi." She gives me a simple sweet smile and a small wave.

This is actually way worse then his uncle, what is Chrissy Cunningham doing here? There's no way she smokes pot.

Does Jason even know she's here? Jason hated Eddie. As far as I remember him being a Freshman.

"You two know each other?" He questions walking in before me.

"Yeah- she went to middle school with me." She was only just a sixth grader. She's grown now.

Eddie nods his head and sits down on the couch across from her.

"Sit down." He looks up at me and I take a seat next to Chrissy.

"So um, how does this work?" I ask.
"Well, if you guys want, I could start you off with a few samples. Or I could just get you your stuff and you could leave and we can be done." He leans forward and props his elbows onto his knees.
Me and Chrissy look at each other, "the sample is fine." She says.

"Sample it is. I'll be right back." He stands up and walks away out of view.

I decide to break the silence because who knows who long he's gonna take. "So um, you smoke?"

"Oh uh, no actually this is my first time." I've always loved the way Chrissy talked.

Her voice is so soft and delicate, almost like what I'd picture an angel to sound like.

"Really? Why are you doing it?"
"Uh, just to have a little fun." She looks at her feet.

"I first smoked pot when I was your age." I say with a smile.

"Really?" Her eyes lighten and she smiles back.
"Uh-huh, and Eddie was my dealer back then too."

She laughs leaning further back into the couch maintaining eye contact with me, "no way! What did Eddie look like then?"

"Well, he was just growing his hair out, and it was a little shorter not exactly long, but long enough to be considered longer than a normal length. He was also shorter, and his voice sounded different. Very different." She sits and listens attentively before

Eddie walks back in the room.

"Talking about me Wheeler?" I snap my eyes towards Eddie and I watch as he sits down in his same seat before.

"Don't flatter yourself, just telling Chrissy here how much of a little dweeb you were in high school freshman year." He lights the joint he has perched between his two fingers.
