Maddie

I got the subway to Boston Logan International Airport and it was possibly one of the most terrifying experiences of my life.

Not necessarily because I felt scared or unsafe, but because I was stupid enough that for my very first time on the subway, I decided it would be a great idea to go by myself.

It was not a great idea.

I severely underestimated how many people there would be and how difficult it would be to understand the whole system.

I'm just used to trains into the city and the DART or the LUAS, nothing this insane.

My mam offered to come with me, but I knew the second Aebhín and I saw each other we would just start chatting shit and gossiping and talking about things that really my mam doesn't need to know about.

I am now currently standing in the arrival level of the airport holding a sign that says, Aebhín Mulligan: the sexiest bitch alive, and a box of dark chocolate for her, which I just personally think is disgusting but it's Kosher and she loves it so.

I waited for nearly thirty more minutes because her flight was delayed and finally I see her walk out of the doors rolling a massive suitcase behind her, because of course in true Aebhín fashion she packed like she was moving here and not like she's just here for four days.

"Mulligan!" I shout, waving my arms around like a crazy lady.

Her head swivels and she looks around the room until she finds me. "Bitch!"

We run and slam into each other and hug for what seems like forever.

Aebhín pulls away and holds my shoulders, "כלבה, התגעגעתי אליך כל כך."

I look at her, "Aebhín, I love you but no matter how hard you try, I cannot understand Hebrew. Irish, French, and English are enough to make my brain explode as is."

She rolls her eyes, "I missed you, you bitch."

I grin and give her the chocolates, "Missed you too."

She gasps, "Oh, Maddie! Thank you, I haven't had any chocolate in forever."

I link her arm with mine and we chat while we make our way back to the subway station. I tried to sway her against that decision but she wanted to give it a go.

It was even harder this time because of her huge suitcase.

Ten out of ten do not recommend it.

We quickly drop her suitcase off at the apartment and head back out after she says hello to my mam and Riley.

We go to the Dunkin Donuts closest to where I live. Dunkin is so popular here, it's the only coffee all of my friends drink when we go out.

We get a booth in the corner of the shop and sit down.

Aebhín sips her black coffee and says to me, "Okay, so do you want to update me on all the gossip here or will I give you the goss from back home?"

I stir my iced vanilla latte with the straw and exhale, "I'll go first. I don't think I can stomach whatever it is you have to say."

She nods like she agrees with me which just makes my stomach flip even more.

I start, "Okay, so everyone has been so nice and welcoming to me. Like it's mad, I have not one but two friend groups. It's been amazing though. Penelope, Alex, and Evelyn especially have just went above and beyond for me. Evelyn is so smart and just caring and Alex is fucking hilarious and Penelope is so unbelievably kind and oh my fucking god that girl is a stunner." I take a sip of the coffee, "And sure you know that Brooke, who I initially thought was horrible, is the one that's organising this thing for my birthday, which is just so nice of her."
