Matt
Holy. Fucking. Shit.
My girlfriend is the most beautiful person to ever walk the planet.
Absolutely, without a doubt, the most stunning person to exist.
Nick, Alex, Felix, Darius, and I were instructed to stand outside of Brooke's apartment building and wait at the limos for them all to come out.
And, yes, I did just say limos, as in plural.
Apparently it will be 'iconic' if all of us guys show up first and then open the door for the girls and Ev and walk them in on our arms.
I think it's kinda dumb but fuck it, if this is what makes them all happy.
Us guys are all in the suits we were made to get a few weeks ago. All of the suits are black, only Felix and Nick's are in a three piece. And Darius has a dickie-bow rather than a tie like the rest of us.
As they all walk toward us I mentally beg Pen, Brooke, and Evelyn to move so that I can get a proper look at Maddie as she's the last in line and hidden behind the rest of them.
When she finally reaches me I smile.
And I still stand by my previous statement, except she's even better-looking up close.
"You look gorgeous." I whisper to her.
She smirks, "Not too bad yourself, Brown."
I smile and rub her hand with my thumb quickly before she drops it and we all start conversing with everyone else.
If I was to guess anything right now, I'd guess that all of our friends hate me and Brooke.
Because for the past twenty minutes Brooke has been filming stuff for her YouTube and I've been trying my hardest to get good pictures of everyone while running around with my camera like a crazy person.
My dad got me into photography when I was like eight I think. I'm not astounding by any means but I at least know how to take a good picture.
And I may or may not have gotten a few too many of just Maddie.
When the timer on Brooke's phone tells us it's time to move on to the secret restaurant that Alex won't tell us about we all nearly run to the limos.
"I'm so fucking hungry, man." Darius exclaims.
"Same, this place better be prepared for me to eat the whole menu." Felix says.
Only maybe five minutes later we pull up to the restaurant and as I look out the window I laugh and everyone starts getting out.
Brooke is standing in front of us all looking at Alex. "Wendy's, Alex, really?"
He shrugs and grins, "Hey, it's a respectable establishment."
"Personally," Evelyn starts, "I am more than happy to eat here."
Brooke rolls her eyes and laughs, "Sure. Why not."
The serious, like could not spend twenty-four hours without it, coffee addicts –Maddie, Penelope, and Felix have spotted the caffeine and they all practically run into the Dunkin' that's next door to us.
They tell us to get them all the twenty piece chicken nugget combo.
Then they all disappear into the caffeine.
We all walk into Wendy's in our suits and gowns, getting a few judgemental looks from the customers that are already in the place.
We find a few booths that can seat all nine of us and Brooke, Darius, and Nick take our orders and go up and order for us all.
"So, are y'all going to be fighting for the crown tonight?" Evelyn asks Alex and me.
"Nah," Alex shakes his head, "Cause it's obviously going to Mr Quarterback there."
I roll my eyes, "Oh yeah, definitely. Not like it wouldn't go to the most outgoing beloved guy in the school."
"Fuck off, that's definitely D."
"Nah, Darius has the charm but you've got the jokes. Back yourself, kid."
He blows a kiss at me and I pretend to catch it and put it in my pocket.
Evelyn looks between us and says, "So, Felix or Nick then?"
"Yeah, why not. One of the smartypants kids that'll be the bosses of the world in ten years can start their reign of terror tonight." I say imaging Felix or Nick being the CEO of some big company, which I can picture them doing but neither of them would enjoy it.
We all laugh and then Maddie, Penelope, and Felix walk in the door laughing about something and I swear to god I've never seen a big cup –sorry barrel of coffee in my whole life.
"Y'all are going to be bouncing off the walls by the end of the night." I say staring at the cups as they approach us and sit down.
Pen shrugs, "Oh well. As my abuela always says 'déjalos comer'."
"What does that mean?" Evelyn asks.
"Let them eat."
We all laugh just as Brooke drops a tray of burger and fries and a lot of other food on the table. "I agree. Let them eat."
"¡Déjalos comer!" We all shout and pronounce very badly.
