Somethings that happen in this life are sometimes just lucky coincidences...
The sky was a soft, baby blue and there wasn't a cloud in sight, the smell of daffodils and dandelions filled the two girls noses as they walked out to the middle of the field with their picnic supplies.
The two girls were Violet and Layla. The were best friends and they spent every moment they could together. They did a lot of things together, such as, drinking milkshakes and having snacks at their favourite café, having millions of sleepovers and going on little picnics on good days like today.Violet closed her eyes and gently smelled the air and sighed, "We picked the perfect day to go out for a picnic." Layla laughed.
"It would've been better if it was raining in my opinion." They both laughed and placed the things on the ground, well Layla chucked her things onto the ground and Violet gently put her things down.
Layla layed down on the soft grass while Violet placed the blanket down and started to set up their small picnic for two.
It didn't take long for her to finish setting it up, the mat was a regular red and white chequered pattern, both had a couple of throw pillows each and there was an array of sweet and savoury treats layed out for them to snack on.
Layla hopped onto the blanket and stared at the food and then at Violet.
"Is there anything I can't have?" Violet shook her head and they started to snack on the food."So, how was your holidays that you didn't bring me along for?" Layla asked slyly making Violet pout.
"Layla I said sorry already and I brought you heaps of shells and pretty rocks! Plus, you're coming up with me for Christmas!" Layla laughed and placed a hand on the poor blondes shoulder.
"It's alright dear. But seriously, how were they?" Violet started to talk about her holiday and all the things she did."Then we went to some markets that were near the beach then we went to the beach and I collected more shells and then the dress up party was amazing!" Violets eyes were sparkling the entire time she was talking and Layla ate while she listened intently.
"What should we do?" Layla was shaken out of her thoughts by the question. "I mean, I brought cards so we could play 'snap', we could watch the non existent clouds, I don't know what to do." Violet layed her head in Layla's lap and ate a strawberry.
Layla nodded and looked out over the calm field, past the houses, to the mountains that weren't too far away and to the sky. It was peaceful for a moment.
A sigh escaped Violets mouth and she scooted closer to Layla."I just want something interesting to happen." She threw her arms in the air and Layla narrowly dodged them with a chuckle.
"What? Do you want to break a leg?" Violet laughed but shook her head and looked back at the sky.
"Nothing that extreme, it's just nothing interesting ever happens in this town. I want an adventure!" Violet jumped up at the last sentence and stood over Layla with a big smile.
She started to walk around and make big hand gestures, "I want to see new places, discover things, explore different places and meet new people!""I get what you mean, but we can't do anything like that because we know every inch of this pathetic town and there's nothing to explore or see." Layla pointed out and Violet nodded and sat down beside Layla.
"I just, want to experience something... exciting." After she finished her sentence a purple and black substance slowly seeped through the picnic blanket and Violet started to sink into it.
"LAYLA, WHAT'S GOING ON!?" Violet was panicking as she tried to grab onto Layla's arms but as soon as she did, they both fell into the pool of black and purple.
A second later they found themselves falling into a stadium of sorts, it had a mountain in one corner, a couple protective domes over other areas and multiple slightly broken buildings in another section.
Looking down, they saw a massive body of water but they seemed to be falling into a fairly shallow area of the water.
Violet was clinging onto Layla for dear life while Layla was snickering slightly.
