"Anna....psst....hey Anna. ANNA WAKE THE FUCK UP." Chloe yells into my ear causing me to whip my nearest pillow towards her direction. "okay chill out I just wondered if you wanted some breakfast so we could go lay out by my pool and tan."
I turned over with a literal birds nest on top of my head, she chuckled a little before taking a seat next to me. I felt refreshed from the long day before and was absolutely buzzing to get the day started with a whole new life for a few months.
"oops yeah sorry Chlo didn't mean to almost give you a bloody nose. I am starving so let's see what queen Julie can chef us up." I smirked at her earning nothing but an eye roll and her dragging me out of the room downstairs.
-
We ate a big breakfast and put bathing suits over our bloated stomachs without a care in the world.
"Entering my body positivity era. Call me Sienna Mae." I sarcastically said while she smiled at me in the pool float beside me.
"god she really was the worst influencer to touch tiktok."
"Speaking of influencers Chloe, I did some digging on your little chad boy last night -"
"it's chris." Chloe corrected me while playfully hitting my arm and splashing some water up.
"shush I know but come on this won't go far. not like we'll be here long anyways. regardless why didn't you tell me he's kinda sorta maybe famous." I questioned her with a straight face.
"stop acting so serious about it. I don't know I wanted to see if he was going to be just another dick but we were friends for so long that I don't look at him as famous. he's just Chris. Plus, the fact that me and him were friends kinda lead me to believe he actually is a good person I mean he's been my friend for 12 years for Christ sake." I stared back at Chloe. she had a fair point if a guy is sticking around for that long I doubt he is going to throw it away for a little summer fun.
"does it not bother you that a bunch of other girls are thirsting after him tho?"
"look at you stalking him for me Anna. don't worry I don't think you'll have to protect me from him - he's harmless. plus you'll meet him and his brothers tonight they're coming on my boat and back to the boardwalk with us." I smiled back at her trying to analyze her face as to whether or not I should be nervous for it. She looked so peaceful and content being her and talking about these boys that it calmed myself down a lot.
-
"okay girls don't forget the life jackets are under the seats. and try not to hit the dock when you bring it in Chloe." Julie said with a side eye. "Me and your dad are going to have a drink with everyone we won't be back til late." Julie stepped away as Chloe and I sat on the boat waiting for her friends to come over. she twiddled with her thumbs out of anxiety.
"cmon babe don't be nervous about Chrissy boy you've been friends for years and you're gorgeous. you have nothing to be nervous about. just maybe don't tell him you love him quite yet." I joked with her causing a smile to finally crack and minutes later I see three brunette boys approaching us at the end of the dock. They all looked so similar which made me realize how easily I was going to get them mixed up.
"CHLOBUG" one of the boys screamed as his walk turned into a full on sprint. He just about tackled Chloe down to the ground then turned to introduce himself to me.
"Hey Anna! im nick and my brothers are still coming - they're such fucking slowwalkers its annoying. But im so happy to meet you and thanks so much for keeping my girl Chloe safe so far away from us." It made me happy to see so much of Nick's personality right off the bat and notified me of my immediate level of comfort id have with him. we chatted for 30 more seconds until the other two finally made their way down to the boat.
"You must be Chris. I'm Anna, Chloes roommate which im guessing you probably already know. But its so nice to meet you." I smiled at him hoping my sense of approval for this boy would help Chloe feel less nervy about the whole thing. When I looked back and saw her gazing at the two of us with her kind eyes I knew she was better. He walked past me after a quick interaction, then was the third boy. He looked like a perfect combination of the previous two boys. I figured it was safe to assume they were triplets as they were all the same age and looked practically identical. Surprisingly part of me was nervous to talk to him kinda like when you see a hot guy at the airport and you know you'll never see them again but there is just strange tension. But I pushed past it because I know no matter what my feelings will fade just like the sun would be in a few minutes.
"Hello, im anna. Whats your name?" I said in a sing song voice as I looked up to him from my seat - his eyes kind of matched the water surrounding us which was dumb of me to notice.
"oh uh Hi." he smiled trying to find the best seat with the best view. "I'm matt or Matthew actually yeah just matt." he laughed and I smiled now at eye level since he was sitting across from me. We talked a bit more mostly about Chloe and occasionally I would sneak a peak at Chloe and chris talking as she drove the boat further out to see the sunset. We snapped a few pictures and headed back to the shore for whatever the hell this damn boardwalk party was about.
"Its so fun Anna honestly, you'll feel like you're in outer banks or some shit but we would definitely be kooks in that scenario...ew." Nick said to me as I followed along next to him. Matt, Chris and Chloe behind the two of us. We entered into a little restaurant with the usual finger food and cute patio seating. People surrounded us in all directions and most of them were surprisingly around our age. Nothing at all like Oregon but I liked this change of pace. We ordered our food and sat down to talk.
"So Anna where are you from?' Matt asked me through the hair in front of his eyes.
"indiana, and stranger things makes it look a lot cooler than it really is. If you were thinking about asking about that."
"ummm yeah I wasn't and stranger things does not sound fun though fucking demogorgons running after you and shit." he giggled at his own joke which I found strangely cute (smh).
"Okay yeah fair enough but so far Massachusetts is a lot better than an Indiana summer and I have been here for about 36 hours." I smiled back while we chatted the rest of the night away before exchanging socials and heading home.
